A few questions on vRS 230 DSG

Featured Replies

I've acquired a '17 vRS 230 DSG after alternating between Octavias/Leons over the last few years!

1. First thing I've noticed is that the artificial engine sound speaker resonates when accelerating hard - is this common/fixable?

2. When the gearbox auto changes down to 2nd, say at a junction/roundabout, and then I accelerate off again there's a bit of a judder - is this an issue?  All other gears are super smooth.

3. Is it true that they've done away with service books?? Apparently all electronic now and stored in the Skoda/dealer database?

I can't just drop it back in at the dealer where I bought it as it's the other side of the country, so would need to be sure of genuine 'faults' before I head into my local dealer.

1. Mine doesn't do it, you can turn it down using VCDS/Carista etc or unplug it.

2. Mine doesn't do it.

3. Apparently yes, you can get printouts. I think from Skoda UK Customer Services but your dealer should be able to get them if not.

1. Fake engine noise is noisier / harsher in VRS mode, but I've never noticed it resonating.

2. I have experienced a judder from 1st - 2nd when accelerating gently after previously slowing down, never from 3rd - 2nd during slowing though. Has your car done over 40,000 miles as this is when the DSG oil change is due?

3. No service books any more. Any Skoda dealer can print out your service record if requested.

1, It is worse in vRS mode, usually OK in normal mode

2. 7000 miles on clock, Judder is on the acceleration after dropping from 3rd to 2nd, almost the sensation you get if an engine mount is loose - but it's fine in all other gears.

3. Great - don't need a paper service book

Thanks

1. My sound activator vibrated something inside the dash, and like yours was worse in the vRS Sport setting.  I've just had it turned down to 30%, which has solved the problem.

2.  No judder on mine.

3.  Third service just done and no service paperwork at all.

Gaz

My sound actuator vibrated badly under hard acceleration after a ‘spirited’ drive on French back roads.

Took it it to my dealer and they ‘reset’ it. Now working perfectly. Just as loud (I’m one of the few on here who like it) but without the resonating / vibration.
