Hmmm... Now who do we know who is brave enough to rip a bumper off to see what's behind it?

Paging @aldouk:biggrin:

This made me chuckle, but yes guilty as charged!

And I've read the front mounted camera comes in 2 forms, depending on level of functionality (TSR and traffic assist require the better unit)

It maybe that the non ACC models have a more basic front radar unit too.

A lot of these features are set to become standard on all cars in 3 or 4 years, under latest EU proposals.

There are two types of front cameras - yes and no. The Superb comes with a camera refered to as "A5" (adress in VCDS), which can do it all. Octavia´s and others comes with the "smaller" camera "20", that can only do High Beam Assist. It´s easy to tell the difference, as the A5 is mounted directly on the windscreen, where 20 is a part of the rear view mirror base. I´ve not seen the latter in a Superb.

The radar is the same for them all; but if ACC has not been ticked as an option from the factory, the ACC function in the radar is locked.

and for illustration purposes, so people know where the ACC unit is and what it looks like.......

Item #7 = ACC Cover.

Does this mean that all Superbs are capable of doing TSR and Lane Assist (if not picked as factory options)?

If you specced one of the options that uses the A5 camera, the other options can be activated. TSR requires satnav to work properly though.

The ACC cover is part of the bumper/grille.

It's not clipped or connected physically to the ACC radar itself.

I don't know how to take the radar off.

I personally wouldn't do it, let alone touch it!!

U risk upsetting it's calibration, and will b very expensive exercise to get the workshop to re-calibrate the radar for u again.

I just  want to remove the cover (plastic thing in front of it) if it ispossible , i'm retrofiting a5 camera  and there has to be 2 wires conected direcly from camera to radar , some people say that the cables are already there  and e need to confirm, if yhe wires are there i jus need to tap them inside the cabin.

Is thera way just to remove cover (7) without braking it ?

As I said before, the cover is part of the bumper/grille.

Mines got park assist and is a late 2017 L & K, I was parking  on a lane at a NT property we were visiting, I had to put it up on the verge and low bushes behind activated this function....it's quite severe and was really unexpected ( I'm a sod reading the manual, it's far more entertaining finding out all the nuances of a new car as you go along...kinda guy).....just like the final warning on the lane assist!!

I'be been caught out with this a couple of times when reversing, it is quite severe and had me convinced I'd actually hit the car/bollard behind me.

I had to get out to get check both times!!! I think it's a great feature.

It comes off   but maybe the bumper has to come off to. It has 4  pins\fittings that secures it in place.

I never removed a bumper , I´m a litlle afraid of messing up.

But many thanks for your awnser.

Here is how to do it

What about manoeuvre assist (auto braking) when going forwards? My car, when I creep forward in traffic, activates front parking sensors (little overhead view appears on the left of the infotainment main screen) and I get the beeps but unfortunately the „auto braking” icon is orange - so it’s disabled and the car won’t stop on it’s own. I would have to manually tap the icon first to change it to white…any idea why? And any way to make it „activated” by default when front parking sensors turn on on their own? It works if I press the parking sensors button near gear selector - the car will then stop on it’s own when going forward. But it’s not really helpful if I get distracted in traffic and the car in front of me stops suddenly…
