Hi

 

Can anyone help, the mirror in the sun visor is all cracked and needs to be replaced.  Anyone any idea if just the glass can be changed or is it the whole thing?  I have had a google and stuggling at the moment to find either?

Is the car still in warranty? Have you tried the dealer parts dept?

Yes it has a 5 year warranty on it.  I was assuming that the mirror glass would not be covered under warranty.

 

So far not been able to find any parts online, not even a total replacement so I think it will have to be a dealer part.

Pentaxian did as he was instructed and rubbed the magic lamp one time, two times and upon the third rub the lamp the Briskoda Genie leapt from the spout of the lamp.  "I'm ColinD, Briskoda Genie. It is my super site moderator duty to grant you three wishes but due to Brexit and both political and financial uncertainty, you have but one wish". 

Pentaxian couldn't believe his luck, his mind now awash with many possibilities of self improvement and financial gain.  Only one thought persisted across all others though.  "Got it!", exclaimed Pentaxian, now close to hyperventilation due to sheer excitement. 

 

"I wish to look like @BriskodaJeff"  

 

"That's an odd request, are you sure?" 

 

"Yes, 100%" 

 

"Very well" 

 

And with that the Briskoda Genie vanished. 

 

All fell silent in the cabin of Pentaxians Superb, mainly due to the buttery smooth TSI engine but also because it creates atmosphere.  "Did it work?", Pentaxian was stroking his face, desperate to know.   He unfolded the drivers vanity mirror and behold, he could not take his face from the LED illuminated glass.  In awe of what he seen Pentaxian used the built in mirror link to access his phone.  Surely he would be phoning his loved ones, friends and family so that they could rejoice in his transformation...."Hello, is this Horton parts Dept?"

I did not crack it, car just been in for a full ptotection detail inside and out.  The company doing it caused it (and resolving, just helping source) have phoned dealer and it is £100 basically for a replacement.  The glass cannot be done on it's own.

I've just discovered that my passenger mirror glass is broken too!  You don't think to check that when you're looking at used cars do you?!  

 

Found a replacement on eBay but no idea how to remove the old one.

 

@pentaxian - have you replaced yours yet, or was it a dealer job?

Not had it done yet, but has been impossible to source one outside of the dealer.  So the company that broke it is paying for the dealer to order one in and fit it.

Fair enough.  I'll keep this thread updated if I decide to replace mine and figure out how it's done!

Wow, thought it was just me - my drivers mirror has smashed also - not sure when or how it happened - how do you smash a sunvisor mirror  - I still wonder.

 

Dealer told me you could not just but mirror so need whole new sun visor - think whole bill came to around £60 including fitting by dealer which was around a 15 min job.

My passengers visor mirror was smashed when a fully raised head rest on the electric seat was pushed into the sun visor.

The entire visor has to be replaced.

just seen this - noticed ours was smashed on drivers side - 4 months after buying it from bickerton skoda sheffield

 

not been to them as how can you prove it was done when you bought it !  was supposed to be MDs car for 4 months  so he probably knew !!

 

I've just taped the class so it doesnt fall out, as never use it anyway.
