Internal light and windows tempremental

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have read many articles and can't match it to my problem.

The car electrical system is now temperamental. Internal light, windows, and the alarm is working or not working depending on the mood. if it does not work, I can't put the windows down or unlock doors remotely (key itself can unlock all doors). The internal light is non-existing as well. While driving it can all come back and work again. Problem is if I put windows down and it stops working, then I can't do anything. The remote locking is not a big deal, but I am sure it is all connected somehow.

Any ideas what can it be? Relay, loose connection? which relay is responsible for the power supply to the windows buttons.

Dany, thank you for the info. Do you think it will be a water ingress affecting it? I do have a convenience unit in the driver's door, and it is dry as I did check it, however, I am not sure if there is another one under the driver's seat.  I don't want to start to take it apart before checking the easily accessed relays.

You have many different things that are affected. Lots of wires cross from one side of the car to the other and there are lots of wires/connections below the carpets in the car. Please read that whole thread and checked under your carpets, all of them, two in the front (of the seats) and the ones in the back.

Most of what you described is what I had in my Superb I and it was water in my case mainly in the front passenger well.

It might be the relays but ask any MK I owner past or present and they will say water. Sorry.

You do not need to take things apart to check. Put your hand under the vent under the seat and feel the floor pan. I think you'll find it's wet. Follow the instructions and you may be lucky.
