17" Alloys Advice Superb 2 Combi Estate

Featured Replies

Seen some Mark 3 wheels 17 inch and wondered how they might sit on my Combi

215/55/17 with 41 offset.

My 18" wheels are ET46

If they sat more flush with the arch that would be a bonus I hope, in the looks department.

How about the side wall quite tall really considering the 55 comes with my 205/55/16 winters?

www.willtheyfit.com should answer all those questions for you

From what you've posted above, your 'new' setup will 'poke' out 7.7mm less than the current set up.

The face of the wheel will be tucked 7.7mm further into the arch than current setup - less flush with the arch.

The 'new' tyre size is the biggest concern for me. Ride height gain of 1.55cm and speedo under reading by almost 5%.

In short, wheel dimensions are OK,  but different tyres needed for 'new' setup on your vehicle IMHO

Hmm shame really would have been a nice upgrade. Looks and ride wise. I am not willing to compromise the arch gap anymore. Yes indeed the speedo underreading and why I am looking at 55/17" tyres when most specified 50/17" on the mark2. I did a reg check on a mark 3 on my tyres and it's a factory size.

That pretty much sums up why I shouldn't take a punt on them.

Yes, I could replace tyres but they have a pretty decent set of boots already.
