PCV Valve code and best place to buy

Featured Replies

So car info so we all know what is being talked about!  Mk2 Octavia VRS 2L turbo engine code CCZA (the chain one!)

So I've just had the car in for service and the Skoda tech noted that the idle was taking a while to drop down to a normal RPM. He said it would be the PCV valve and to keep costs down I can easily change it. Now looking online I can find many part number and varying prices.
So a few questions;

1) Does anyone know what the latest revision of the PCV part number is? (I think 06H103495AH was suggested but that was in relation to Audi's )

2) Best place to get it? EBay seems to have some from £20 (fake I guess) to £150.

And lastly just to make 100% sure, this car doesn't have an idle control valve correct, that is what the PCV does?

Thanks for the help in advanced

Can't find info on superseding part numbers, need someone with real ETKA ideally.

My understanding is that this is not at all a replacement for an idle control valve, that's done by the drive by wire throttle. Keeping the positive crankcase ventilation system under control is what the PCV valve does.

Looks like suffix AJ has replaced that number:

The correct latest pcv for ccza engines depends on original manufacture date as there are two different variants. So depending mfr date it will be either AH or AJ. They are slightly different designs one with an extra check valve.

All cheap ebay ones are fakes and I would not trust. Your only real option is dealer or TPS. They are about £80 to £90.

Need to be careful with it removed make sure nothing is dropoed into open cam cover -it leaves quite a gaping hole! Also the rear pcv hose assemly tab is easy to break which will require another part if it is damaged...

A split pcv causing a vacuum leak can cause idle problems and system lean faults. .

Sorry I think I may have confused it a bit there, my fault. I was just trying to clarify there isn't a mechanical idle control valve on this car like on older cars! I just didn't word it very well at all. I am aware that a dodgy PCV can cause bad idle although idling isn't its main job... if that makes any more sense!

Manufacture date of the engine you mean? How would I find that out, stamped somewhere on engine or just by reg code 59....

Also thank you TheClient for the link to the other topic. I will take a read through that now! Somehow missed it when I did a search earlier.

Yes. Mfr date. Usually on bar code on engine upper timing cover.

But 59 reg it will be pre 14.06.10 which was the changeover date according to catalogues so your car probably has E fitted (if original) and should be replaced with AH.

According to the 7zap link I posted, E was fitted to various engine codes around then, but AD was on the CCZA?

Thank you, that ties up with my limited search before. And you are correct it is fitted with the E at the moment.

I 'think' the first lot of engine all had E then they started splitting it up more by engine code when problems started to come about.

Thank you both for all of your help
