Look at the D :)

Page 117 of the manual shows how to do it.

strong is called intensive on the superb.

personally, I wouldn’t point the vents at your head when you do it, as the city gives me a headache.

  • 2 weeks later...

30C outside yesterday afternoon and all the air con would do is blast out hot air

No amount of fiddling with setting would encourage it to get cold.

This morning it's 20C and appears to be working now.

Anyone else had this problem?

No problems here. Car sat in the sun all day yesterday and it was 32C when I left work at 4pm. Opened all of the windows and drove for half a mile or so then closed them and turned the aircon on.  It took a while to cool down as it's got a lot of latent heat to remove but a mile or so later and I could feel the benefits.  That was in Eco mode too so I'd have expected it to cool down faster in Normal mode.

That's how it usually works for me but on this occasion it just pumped out very very hot air. It was like a blast furnace - with no sign of cooling!

Back last year @Rainmaker posted this possible solution to similar a/c issues. No idea whether it works but it might help??

With the engine running, at the same time hold down the AC button (the bottom one, underneath 'Auto') and also the 'direct air at the passenger's faces' button (somewhere near the middle of the row of buttons). Do this for several seconds, until the lights on the buttons will begin to flash alternately. Once this is triggered the fans will cycle from 0% to 100% on their own and through various settings of air blowing. This resets and recalibrates the system and the problem will disappear... For now.

Even if your problem is something else (i.e. the displayed temp won't change, or something different entirely) a reset as described above may well still help fix it. Good luck.

Mine is pretty poor too, I was going to mention it on its recent 10k service but forgot.

Soon remembered the next day when it hit 30°....

I find the aircon adequate enough/satisfactory. Its not ice cold but what is it being compared to??

One way to improve the efficiency of the aircon when you first start the air is to put the recirculation mode on, keeps on cooling the same air so gets colder a lot quicker

Mine works just fine...
