  • Yes they do - you never heard of a kerb crawler?    When I was five, we were caravan holidaying in the New Forest.  My Dad told me to keep still and very quiet, so as to not disturb the 'tre

...Keep that photo, it'll not stay like that for long!  I think I'd save the damaged one for a spare and perhaps have a little go at repairing it myself... Can always get it done properly if it goes pear shaped. (The repair, not the wheel).

"So on Tuesday, I became the proud owner of a massive gouge, first time I have ever kerbed an alloy"......

Sounds like you just ain't got around! Unless you had a lot of steel wheels, plazzie wheel trims, etc.

The wife can't seem to fathom why I won't put her on my insurance - but when you look at the state of her car, you start to understand why.

Oddly, many insurance companies will lower their premium if two people are on the policy instead of one.  I have queried this many times and the only explanation received was, it lowers the risk!  I have had my wife on mine for years even though she doesn't drive but has got a full UK licence based on her passing a driving test in Zimbabwe many many years ago!

The only way my wife can afford her insurance is by having me on it, but when I add her to mine, it goes up.

She has 7/8 years NCB too, no claims, no points etc, mid-30's and drives a Dacia... You'd think it would be cheaper, but then again, I am only paying £260 a year full comp, protected for the 1.4 TSI.

In the last 9 years wife has crunched 3 cars, 2 were hers and 1 was mine. All parking. I think women lack spatial awareness in that important part of their brain compared to men. If you follow a woman driver and there is a parked car on your side they probably stop rather than pass it even though there is space. If you are a passenger in a car when this happens ask them why they stopped and they will say they are being cautious. This is code for I can't judge that gap.

The way the wife drives, I'm surprised she hasn't totalled her car yet. Throws it around like a go kart.

Thankfully she has only ran over a few inanimate objects, like, Road Closed signs...

When it comes to parking, I don't think I've ever seen the wife parallel park and when she needs to do anything particularly difficult, I let her lose her **** for a few minutes as I chuckle then I take over.

When we went to view a house yesterday we took the wife's Karoq (1.5Tsi manual) and when we arrived 14 miles later I showed the trip computer read exactly 60MPG. Her response was how did you manage that as though I had performed a magic trick. I tried to explain about the ACT and how it works but could see she was more than a little confused.com. Can't really expect her to do more than 40 something when her driving style resembles Michelle Mouton in a Group B rally car (insert SCARED FACE).

Drive it like it's stolen ;)

Now you know why I insist on driving when we are in the same car. You must read very quickly BTW.

I normally drive anyway, the wifes car is literally for her and the kids, leaving mine for family days out etc. I prefer to drive, at least I know we'll get there... Alive ;)

I'm catching up on some work and Briskoda dings in my ear when you reply ;)
