At least

Got pulled over yesterday by unmarked White OctaviaVRS police car and the very nice Traffic Officer checked my details and everything was in order. They were looking for drink drivers but I explained I was returning home after a long day at work. The police car was a 67 plate but did not like to ask whether it was based on the 230 or 245 as it did not have the black grill or mirrors. If you are travelling through Leicestershire be careful and aware that this vehicle only gives it's identity away when the blue lights come on in the grill and wing mirrors.First time I have been stopped in 30 years.

They've been reading your posts on here :giggle:

"Ah yes hello sir, this is the 302bhp Octavia that can do 165mph is it sir?"

My wife had a habit of hitting kerbs (in her car, I don't even let her drive mine, from experience) but oddly she stopped doing it when I made her go to Kwik Fit and spend £80 of her own money replacing a tyre that had a damaged sidewall from her latest kerbing incident.

You let her have her own money:D

There are usually subtle hints like an extra visible external antenna - for the Police radio system.

He was at least 200metres behind me when the blues went on. Initially thought he was responding to an emergency so pulled over out of his way, but he stopped alongside me and asked me to park in a better spot. Think it was the HGV I had just overtaken, which had pulled straight out of a Shell garage into my path so 2 options either brake or overtake. Hadn't noticed the White VRS behind unless he was parked up somewhere and wasn't speeding when he lit up the blues!

Know the problem - a few years ago I was pulled by an unmarked pale blue MAazda 3 MPS on the M3 who came from behind very rapidly so I hadn't had chance to see him.

Fortunately we had a short chat (he mentioned it was my exhaust note that got him interested in me as the Doppler effect sounded like I was going over 70) during which I mentioned the speed shown on my GPS (which was a bit more than 70) and we parted after I was given some advice!

He probably wouldn't have been quite so friendly had he seen my computer showing I had averaged 20.5MPG at an average of 68MPH for the previous 15minutes driving!:notme:

My wife as her own money, it's called a joint account apparently.

Occasionally I'm allowed some.

Makes more sense to have separate accounts these days with the benefit of cashback and individual savings schemes.

Only one earner in this house.

Savings are a totally different ball game, tax free saving schemes ok but still nothing better than property.

Wife pays the mortgage on the 4 bed house we live in and I pay the mortgage on the 3 bed house we rent. Therefore we get cashback on both properties by having separate accounts.

Fortunately our mortgage days are behind us.

Have a few properties, one current rental is a detached bungalow which will be our retirement home. Others will be sold including our current home.

Together with my pension forecasts I'm looking at retiring at 55.

Five years to go.

Can we move from financial advice and bragging about how many properties with how many rooms we have and move back on to cars, please!

Almost as bad as bragging about the 302 bhp we have under our right foot and how fast we can drive without plod realising....

YAWN!

Someone's clearly had a bad day and doesn't need any free financial advice. SORRY!:sleepy:

Had a great day thanks.

Popped on here, caught up on this thread and fell asleep. I thought: blimey, sure I’ve heard all this or similar before.............

Anyway, back to the OP’s Q.

@Ozzy25 have you managed to get your alloy sorted yet?  Hope so. Costs?

It was booked in for today. Phoned them yesterday and they haven’t got the paint in yet.

Good luck! It’ll be great to have it all sorted again.

So on Tuesday, I became the proud owner of a massive gouge, first time I have ever kerbed an alloy...... not sure I've ever felt so sick

Was quoted £150 to get it repaired would take 4-5 days :crying:
