2.0 TDI DSG Water Pump

Featured Replies

Just replaced my water pump at 65000km. Sensed it to be a water pump when i had a temperature spike a few weeks ago.Fortunately was close to home so parked it until the dealer got a replacement in. In my case there was no leakage of coolant or even drop in coolant level. This could be a problem for folks living in colder countries where the engine really does not get up to normal operating temp very often.Sometimes what happens im told is that the block keeps losing water due to evaporation even while the reservoir is full and even the temp guage reads normal until suddenly it spikes and if you are unlucky it could do a gasket.

Are the new water pumps updated or can one expect them to give up as well in time?

This is a known issue with the electronic water-pump on the 2L TDi engine. The replacement has a metal sleave instead of the plastic one that keeps sticking.

Was it replaced Under warrenty or did you pay for it?

Most people who've had this issue on the forum & were out of warrenty have been given a contribution to the cost of replacement by Skoda (from 50% to 75%).

New pump is revised, no need to worry.

Well since i knew it was the water pump, and did not want my car hanging around at the dealers with the pump removed ....just requested for a water pump change, sent the car in after they got the part and had it replaced. Sure enough it was the plastic sleeve that was sticking.Took them 3 weeks to get the part.In any case my car was just out of warranty.

My car was 1.5 years out of warrenty & Skoda contributed 50% of the costs.

Its worth contacting Skoda UK or your dealer & asking them if they would offer a goodwill contribution.

They can only say no & if they agree you have 300gbp for something nice.

OP is located in India.

Still worth a try though.
