Is this high mileage?

Featured Replies

I've seen a possible replacement for my dud Yeti. A 2013 4x4 140HP Elegance model. It has done 63,000 miles though. Is this too high to pay £9000 for?

I dearly miss my original Yeti and this petrol DSG Yeti (although faulty) is just not the same. I am considering Octavia's, Yeti's, PHEV's, etc...

We run a Kia Sorento that has 128k miles on and is fairly unproblematic, so my gut feeling is that 63k miles isn't too high. But what do you think?

Also, there are many garages advertising that they can remove the emissions fix, can it be 100% removed? This particular Yeti has a FSSH, so I'm assuming it'll have been 'fixed'

Thanks again

I bought mine with 104k on it (2009 Elegance 140 4x4) and I've now done 144k miles. I was looking at trading mine for something about 70 - 80k miles, but a bit less than £9000 (more like £7500 - £8000).

Have you had any issues?

The elegance spec is the one for me, my first Yeti was an elegance and you do notice the difference in the SE of the facelift models.

What MPG do you tend to get from your current one? I had the 140 as my first Yeti, but it has the emissions fix and that seemed to reduce it a bit.

I get about 44mpg but it's fully loaded up all the time and doesn't get much sympathetic driving. Had no issues at all, but it's not had the fix.

You could put its details into a valuation site and see what they come back. Obviously there will be prep and dealership costs to factor in, but will give a rough idea what you should be looking at.

If it has FSSH there should be paperwork to state if it had the 'fix' carried out as there was some sort of warranty extension on certain components. If the previous owner didn't have the fix, they were given paperwork to sign stating this.

WBAC values it at £5840, which compared to the £9220 asking price seems crazy!!! Do Evans halshaw move on their prices at all?

Parker's guide says that a franchised dealer should charge £9645 for it and £8585 from an independent dealer. I suppose that isn't too far off then.

But it probably has had the fix,do you want the risk?

Unfix it. ;)

Is it possible to 100% remove the fix? I'll happily pay for that...

Was selling mine ,non fixed 26,000 miles a few months ago ,no interest so sold to a independent garage would have preferred it to have gone to enthusiast as it was a great buy.

This probably won't help, but my 2013 Greenline II 1.6TDI with 52k miles on the clock I bought 3 months ago was 8k.

The green line seems much cheaper. A 2015 model with 37k miles on is £9700 nearby me. But I would prefer the 4x4 to be honest.

What I have noticed about the car I am interested in, is that it has the facelift gearstick in it, it was registered in June 13, so does that mean it was in the cross over between pre-fl and the facelift models? The steering wheel is the old model, so are the badges.

Also, is it possible to change the steering wheel for the new model one, whilst keeping the MFSW functionality?

This is the car I am looking at, let me know if you see anything off about it.

I want elegance spec + 4x4 though. That's the only reason I'm going back to diesel!

  • 2 weeks later...

Last week, I bought my 62 reg 170bhp yeti with 50k miles for 7600. It needed cambelt and waterpump done so bring that to 8k.

Cracking advert.

The Grey Metallic car has the feature of being Corrida Red, Candy White and Solid Pacific Blue.

Does it benefit from having had 'The Fix' and New Engine Management?

Personally, I'd say 36 high quality photos trumps a couple of mistakes regarding the colour of the car. No idea re "the fix" as I always intended to remap it anyway and overight said fix.

Depends which version of the fix it had as to whether it is problematic. My fiancés rapid had the fix and is fine, but others are having issues. But it's easy to get it 100% unfixed, there's a group on Facebook with contacts. You can't just remap it over the top of the fix. I can't comment on price, but at 63,000 miles you can put 100,000 more on it before dpf will be an issue. The engine will be fine much longer than that.

The Fix is the 1 for a 1.2 TDI which is Software, the 2.0TDI that is Software and the 1.6 TDI which is the software and the flow device in the Air Intake,

and then there is the lick of the draw and time will tell.   Obviously all can not go wrong and it can not be 50 % or buy now the UK Government would be taking things more seriously,

well maybe,  but than even if it is 10% or only 5% having issues it is time that those figures were made public.

VW Group UK did say 1% reported faults, then 2% reported and that was when the majority of vehicles that had The Fix were maybe not privately owned but Leased, even VW Finance owned.

Easy to get a roll back then new engine management / remap, but why should the innocent need to splash cash on that just to have a Euro 5 diesel that had a defeat device now fit for purpose and back to what it was pre-fix when supposedly there was no illegal defeat device and the Fix to be sure was to have no adverse affect on the vehicles performance ?
