what is it?

mk2 golf with a 1.8T in it.

so it's like 90yr old man with new heart and lungs?

I would easily go for a newer model.

shed on wheels anyone?

Watch it you'll upset him.

Far from a shed actually, a classic propper hot hatch thats gone supernova.

body works a bit dodgy in places,

dodgy?? come have a look at my granada and tell me whch looks more dodgy :)

IMO a car that old what ever condition is a shed.IMO. :thumbup:

ok id go for well worn:rofl:

so if someone offered you an '88 ferrari you'd tell em where to stick their shed of a car? ;)

pretty much after what I saw on top gear about them!!!

sheds on wheels were expressed many times. "more trouble than they are worth"

the vauxhall astra 1.9 cdti went faster round the track than a ferrari.:thumbdwn:

on a cold morning I know what car id prefer to be stepping into! and it's not the mk2 golf gti!

all IMO of course:rofl: and Jeremy Clarkson :)

the cars on top gear performed so badly because of condition rather than age

that was to a budget though,so your saying stuff like well a 13 year old macca F1,19 year old F40 and 60's GT40's and ferrari 250GTO's are sheds.....

ooooook then

On a cold morning you will be toastie and warm alot quicker in the Golf thats for sure...lol

you'd also get there alot quicker, one thing is for sure the mk2's brakes aren't a match for the octy's, found this out the hard way! My head still hurts from hitting the windscreen

Always thought the throw on the gear stick on the octy was a tad long, after driving the golf seems like someones fitted a quick shift!

ok then. id rather get there safer, warmer, more comfortable and know i was actually going to get there. not too bothered about quicker...you cant get faster in traffic unless you go on 2 wheels.

I would have the the ferrari then if you want to be like that. I just wouldnt drive it. maybe sell it on or use it for track use. old cars like them were just not built for todays environment and roads.

as for the mk2 gti shame on you..

all IMO

know i was actually going to get there.

In your clio, hmmm.

to be honest we all go on about how bad French cars are...

but it has never broken down on me in 3 years, rattles yes lots. Trust is something that needs to be gained over many years and I have grown to trust the clio.

I bet you would never stop driving it once you'd been behind the wheel. Older cars have more "soul" and involvement which is sadly missing in newer cars. Go on I dare you to drive a Mk2 GTi ... you never know you might like it ;)

Chris

im sure I siad i probably use it for track day use and not general day to day driving..I guess you fogot to add that bit.

as for the mk2 golf gti..... i have been in a good condition one and it is well outdated, very poorly designed and unsafe. like many older cars.

all IMO
