My previous Yeti (2.0L diesel) was around 43 - 45 over same route. Glad I bought mine earlier this year as I see the new ones are to have particle filters - one reason I dumped the diesel.

 There will be people asking if the've flattened Shap, as a 1.0 litre cannot go up hills laden..........:biggrin:

First run is Monday down to the smoke. Looking fwd to it. The Karoq does feel more refined than the Yetis.

I'm in a similar boat having had two Yeti 1.2 DSGs like you but am in my third week with an Octavia 1.0 DSG Estate.  It's great.  a 70 cruise is an east 2,200 rpm and we've averaged 48 mpg since we got the car.

On a Skoda Facebook group, I sustained some quite rude comments over my choice of an Octavia 1.0 Estate.  It was my choice and it's certainly living up to my expectations.

Prior to owning the Karoq I had a 1.4tsi Octavia. My local Skoda dealer allowed me to test drive the 1.5tsi & 2.0 diesel for as long as I wanted. I've had Vauxhall diesels in the past. Whilst the diesel was very good, but due to the low mileage our vehicles do, it didn't warrant the extra costs and I also envisaged problems in the future with D.P.F etc. The 1.5 Tsi seemed to suit our needs coupled to an auto transmission. I didnt consider the 1.0 tsi tbh as I was nervous that it was under powered for my particular needs.

Seriously, I made the mistake of buying an Audi 80 estate 1.6 petrol once. That would cruise easily at 70 as well but apart from that the performance was abysmal. Going up hills and overtaking was poor with just two on board.

 

Never again will I buy an under-powered car. Not saying yours is! 

Yes. I had a 1.3 Marina once. It was crap in every way.

My 1963  Triumph Spitfire 4  "sports" car managed 0-60 in a little over 16secs. 1250cc. :thinking: Twas my first car, 11 years old when I had it.

This might be a shot in the dark, but I'm guessing that Spitfire gave you more thrills than my Marina ever did.

 

I hardly dare admit this in public, but I turned that Marina in for an... Ital. Oh, the shame.

 

 

My point is that modern small engine cars bear little resemblance to the horrors foisted on us 40 odd years ago.

Agreed. My daughter is perfectly happy with her 1.0l Ford Focus ecoboost. With 130bhp, (I think) and anyway I love the sound of the "triple" engines.

Yes, you need to drop a cog or three for an overtake. But I can be back at 140km/h way faster than I ever thought possible... over the last 20k kms, it's loosened up very nicely and positively sings through to 6500rpm. 120km/h in third makes things also really simple on A roads, which is my usual fare.

 

I got a four in front of the comma the other day, which implies in excess of 60mpg for that hot trip up north. I still have a long term average of 5,4 which also includes a lot of pacing the motorway to Helsinki and its concomitant low-speed city slog. 

 

Much prefer the feel over the strangely wide-spaced gearing in the 1.0 Fiesta.

I never expected it to have been so apparently controversial!  Seems like there's a whole movement against what is seen as under-sized engines.  Fact is in our case we went from a Superb 4x4 170 TDi DSG Estate to a 1.2 DSG Yeti.  Yes, I noticed the reduced performance but not where it mattered.

 

We travel to Austria winter and summer.  Three adults with top-box on car.  

 

The Superb cruised effortlessly at 65/70 mph (it's a marathon, not a sprint).  The Yeti also cruised effortlessly at 65/70mph.  The 1.0 Octavia has both greater power and torque with more space than the Yeti and better aerodynamics.

 

Having experienced a Nissan Leaf for 9 months, I have to say that given the choice of a small Euro 6 non-diesel engine or an electric car with seriously compromised range, the Octavia 1.0 wins hands down every time.

I had a Marina 1.3 coupe and two 1.8 TCs and liked them bearing in mind what other cars were like in those days.

 

But the Ital...!!!

6500rpm! I rarely go above 3k. which is why I prefer larger more torquey engines.

We had 2 1.3's a coupe then a saloon. My god - the Morris Minor chassis might have been vaguely ok in 1948, but by the mid 70's - what a piece of junk. The steering wheel felt like it was connected to the front wheels by chewing gum.  The Triumph gearbox was horrid too. There was nothing my friends drove that couldn't out corner my (borrowed from Dad )Marina. Happy days though.

Is this engine still available in MY19 as called in my local dealer and he indicated that they could no longer order it.  He also mentioned that digital dash should be added as an option in the next couple of weeks.

They are supposed to be becoming available, so the Sales Executive should be asking Skoda UK what is up and why,

or ask yourself if there is a delay and they have been told not to take orders.

It showed that the SE, SE Technology & SE L would be from week 48.      Maybe some issue with the WLTP or just mis-communication on the Orders to the Dealership.
