New 2018/19 Maps

Featured Replies

To answer my own question, I've just updated the maps for the North of England/Ireland and the South of England. I had the same situation as in a previous thread whereby the 'load' bar freezes on the last download. As suggested, I did not press cancel, just switched the engine off, locked the car, left it for a while, then restarted and checked the map version. This has now changed to the 2018/2019 maps, so (I think) all is well. However, if I then go back to the download page the green bar is still stuck where it was - fully loaded, but not saying "congratulations, you're at 100%"! Maybe this disappear in time?

As RichardPB said, why the software developers couldn't finish off the software with a 'completed' message is a mystery. Also, unless you are Phileas Fogg I can't see the point of downloading 24GB of data, rather than just the relevant country maps, then download other country maps if you intend taking the car abroad.

Skoda, Simply Not Quite So Clever.

When I installed the updated maps from my SD card, the first time it got to 100%, paused for about 5 minutes and then said that there was a read error.

When I restarted the update again, it started from 64% and again progressed to 100%. After about 5 minutes it then said that the update had completed successfully.

Unfortunately doing it via an SD card, you have to update for all countries and not just the ones you want.

Thanks to all your comments I downloaded the maps to my MAC and transferred to an sd card last weekend (also used Roman's help on his Kodiaq via YouTube).

Car recognised an update had been put in SD slot but wouldn't seem to run it.  So yesterday spent all day downloading again and putting on SD card from our windows 10 machine.  Put card in SD slot and it takes a while to recognise it is there, eventually said update available and again wouldn't then run, however I persevered and tried 3 times, on the third attempt it said it was updating, hurrah, took 35 minutes and the screen showed 1% 2% etc until it got to 100% and then software complete message, checked and all maps updated.

On the windows machine I formatted the card to FAT32 as per instructions from Skoda but couldn't select 4096 sectors but seemed to work.

Confused....

In preparation for collecting my new Karoq earlier today, I had followed this thread and downloaded the 2018/2019 maps on to a 32gb SD card.

I used the Skoda site and added my VIN number as requested and everything eventually appeared to download.

This morning when I was conducting my handover with the salesman, I asked where the pre-installed SD card was.

His reply was - the Edition spec comes with the 9.2" Columbus infotainment system and has the maps pre-installed during manufacture and he was unaware of this method of update.

He confirmed that the Amundsen system used this method however

I put the SD card in slot two and this was recognised when selecting SD 2 via the media folder.

Nothing actually happened and so I don't know if he was right or maybe I need to select a different function for the new update to download.

Apart from that, I have already had 150 miles of very happy motoring since 10:00 this morning and I haven't seen another Karoq on the road today.

When you put the SD card in the slot, did a message appear indicating that a new software update was detected?

@ronniebarker the Amundsen uses a SD card to power the satnav and you have to download the update using this card, the Edition comes with the Columbus system which has its own hard drive so you put the sd card in and go into settings then choose infotainment system and check which maps your car has, on the bottom it will say update maps now and then you press ok/yes, in effect it takes the info from the sd card you have inserted and updates the hard drive. hope this helps

womanofkent - Many thanks, all sorted
