New motor - how to? 1,4Tdi

Featured Replies

Hello All

my motor gave up in my fabia 1,4tdi from 2006, the motor code is bnv.

I am thinking about replacing the motor with a used motor, it is to expensive to get a mecanic to do it and the car has value if it runs, so maybe i will try my self. Does anyone know how to, how long it time it takes, is there special tools?

i expect that i disconnect all wires, hoses,  bolts, and then i Can take the engine out??

Any advise would be great

Dude, if you need to ask this question you really shouldn't attempt the job.

Yes you'll need special tools, an engine crane and some way of getting the front end up high enough to get under the car.

Has your existing engine eaten the oil pump drive and scrapped itself?

everyone has to learn somehow, but maybe going straight in with an engine swap is not the best thing to do. If you are replacing like for like, whats to say the replacement engine wont suffer the same problem, (it probably will at some point)

id just scrap it and buy a 1.9tdi fabia, im sure they can be had cheap as anything and bullet proof engines
