Parking Assist Controllers; Interchangeable?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the various models of the parking assist controllers fitted to the Octavia Mk 2 are interchangeable? I'd anticipate the sensors, connector plugs,  or graphics display for one may be incompatible with another..

There are lots of the 1Z0919283B controllers available, but few of the  1Z0919283C or/A.

My one has been US for some time, due to a loose connector in the tube to the rear window washer located almost directly above the controller. Thanks for that, Skoda! I just got around to pulling out the rear trim to investigate the problem.

 Has anyone tried swapping them?

What do you currently have and is it just rear sensors?

Front and rear sensors.

I've got VCDS and just looked at the logs to see what faults were listed. I now find that it's not the controller that is shown as defective, but the sensor and the chime unit. I am a numpty: other words may be applied.

76-Park Assist -- Status: Malfunction 0010

Address 76: Park Assist        Labels: 1Z0-919-283.lbl

Part No SW: 1Z0 919 283 C    HW: 1Z0 919 283 C

   Component: Parkhilfe 8-Kan H04 0020

 2 Faults Found:

01543 - Parking Aid Warning Chime (H15)

009 - Open or Short to Ground

01548 - Sensor for Parking Aid; Rear Right (G206)

            004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

I thought the controller had been shown as defective on an earlier scan that I had paid for, but I don't have the log of that. Possibly I had cleared that by unplugging and re-connecting the controller.

I will get a new sensor and chime unit and see if that gets it working.

The warning chime issue would stop the system working.

The intermittent sensor is less of an issue depending how often it flags up :)

Fixed, replacement speaker for £10 from E-bay (vag_retrofits, if anyone is interested) installed, all working as previously.

The graphic display on the audio had turned itself off, for some reason, but it was easily turned on again via the 'Menu' button. The speaker was 50 Ohms, 0.5Watts. The replacement had the VAG logo and part numbers on it, it seems to be better made than the original.

The intermittent  sensor fault isn't evident, but will probably rise again at the most inconvenient moment.

Many thanks, langers2k.
