Mk1 VRS Speedo

Featured Replies

New Mk1 owner. Been staring at the speedo, there’s no 100mph marking.  Markings don’t seem linear.  What’s the explanation for this ?

After 90mph they are in 20mph increments. It's just on the vRS, probably as it's the sports model and can achieve high speeds but there's no room to add extra numbers If going up in 10mph

if they reduced the scale to accommodate the higher speeds it would make it harder to see what speed you are doing as the increments would be closer together, i believe a few vw group cars have this?

Markings don't need to be linear because the needle is driven by a stepper motor controlled by an electronic 'brain'.

Thanks, I’m not concerned just wondered what the explanation was.  When you look at the KMH version there’s no “gaps”. Is there a simpler explanation that they just couldn’t be bothered to make a proper MPH version ?

:D  Could easily be that.
