Citigo owners

Featured Replies

Hi, we currently have a Superb which I love as our family car. The wife's new job means we may have to get a 2nd car so am thinking about one of these, (used to save on road tax) my twins will learn to drive in it too. We don't have a ton of money to throw at it but what's the best spec to look for? It used to be simple with classic/elegance/LK but it looks like there's loads of types now.

Thanks in advance.

Depends what year your looking at. I’d say SE upwards until 2016 then colour edition onwards to present. I’d look out for those Citigo’s that have had afew extras added in (electric mirrors is a good option to have)  Autotrader is a good place to shop around, most dealers offer delivery - usually free if you haggle or have a part ex.

I bought a November 2014 64 plate 3 door Elegance (so heated seats/mirrors and Garmin) Manual Greentech (stop start - so £0 road tax) with Sunroof and the cruise, trip computer and parking sensor pack. Car has quite a few scratches and scuffs but nothing serious. Car had only done 18,500 miles and had 1 owner and full service history with the same dealership who originally sold it and then sold it to me. Being Skoda approved used it has a 1 year warranty and breakdown assistance - I paid £5,000 for it.

The only things it didn't have was a spare wheel and the sound pack - which only cost £100 on a new car but very few people ever ordered it unfortunately. The sound pack consists of 6 upgraded speakers instead of the very disappointing 2 standard speakers.

I purchased a spare wheel set from eBay for £60.

I bought a 5 door S new in 2013 and part ex'd it in 2016. Silly thing to do as after 2 other Skodas I ended up buying an immaculate 64 plate SE greentech with just over 8k on it for 6290 with a year's Skoda warranty. The only advantage of the SE gtech over the S is the split rear seat, as neither had any options other than the SE with a spare wheel. I would recommend the 5 door due to the ease of access to the rear seats and the fact that you do not have to stretch over your shoulder to get the seatbelt if you do not have the driver's seat back, which I don't. I like to keep my cars as simple as possible if I intend to keep them past the warranty, more options. more things to go wrong as it gets older.

As above -5 dr for safety & space.  My husband (VW Tiguan) likes to drive the Citigo for fun.

I bought a 2014 Citigo Sport for my twins (21 yo) and my youngest to learn to drive (17). I was surprised that the Sport model was group 1 insurance and worked out at £44pm which I thought was very reasonable considering they had no NCB.

It's actually a very enjoyable drive. Kids will appreciate the sporty appearance of the Sport or later Monte Carlo however fundamentally there's very little difference between models. The only difference over the base models is lower suspension, black alloys, stripes, red/black seats and a few comfort options. It's got the base engine though it feels more powerful than the 59bhp rating.

No use on specs I’m afraid but I’ve just bought a new SE green tech and love it.  Even my daughter and her boyfriend who laughed when I bought the Citigo instead of a BMW, are converts being pleasantly surprised at how much fun to drive it is.  I’m sure your kids will be well pleased.  Definitely get electric mirrors as the demo I tried was a real pain without.
