Looking at two 2011 Octavia estates tomorrow 1.4 tsi and 1.8 tsi both in elegance spec.

 

which is the best car? 

 

1.8 has cleaner mot history and has been serviced by main Skoda dealer 1.4 has 20k less miles.

 

are there problems with either engine? Don’t want a money pit like my old sharan.

First of all, welcome! It may be worth posting your question in the Octavia mk2 section of the forum, as there people with have had first hand experiences of both engines. As from what I can remember, one of the tsi engines isn't so reliable.
