Sat Nav Button but no Sat Nav??

Featured Replies

I've just put a deposit down on a 2015 SE L which I thought had sat Nav. On the test drive I tried it and it said something like "please insert data medium with valid Navigation Data. The salesman said it was likely that they had the SD card in the office. When I looked at the advert again it didn't mention Sat Nav. If they don't have a Card What do I need to do to have the Sat Nav activated?

I'm concerned as my current SE (2010) has a button which says "Phone" but when I looked at the time it was going to be another £300-£400 to have the thing hard wired and activated for Bluetooth.

Thanks.

It's only a SD card that's needed. However it might not be cheap....

If it's an Amundsen infotainment then you MUST use a genuine Skoda/VW SD card as it has special secure data embedded which the sat nav needs.

From a dealer they ARE expensive, but can usually be bought off e.g. eBay for a LOT less - I got 2 (one in use plus one with the previous map version as a backup) for less than £30 each.

See if there is a slot for the SD card in the unit in the glovebox. If there is then the garage must supply one.

I thought the SE L came with sat nav as standard spec??

And if so surely the dealer should supply the SD card with the car?

That didn't work when I bought my Octavia Elegance as a Skoda Approved Used car from Sparshatts - they were utterly hopeless and clearly had lost the SD card but didn't want to spend out on a genuine Skoda SD card, hence why I gave up arguing with them and bought from eBay.

As mentioned, make sure to get the correct Skoda card on eBay and they are quite cheap, far less than Skoda charge. Try and get a free one thrown in though!

Although it didn't say in the description about sat nav, it was listed as a SE L. So agree with earlier comment if its being described as SE L then it should have the card as that is standard equipment. It has 2 sd slots in glove box.

Is it a Skoda dealer or used car dealer?  If a Skoda dealer I wouldn’t accept it without the proper Skoda SD Card.  If a used dealer it’s a bargaining point - find out the cost from a dealer, tell the dealer you want that amount off as the car is ‘incomplete’ as it’s a standard fit item and get one off eBay.
