At a guess they will investigate further, but if they have admitted its down to emissions scandal, i can see this repair being covered by skoda uk.  Did they provide you with a courtesy car whilst all this is on going?

Yes - albeit I’m having to pay the insurance at £60 per 14 days

Wow thats shocking? Is that through skoda uk?

No... the Dealership wanted to charge me £14 per day for their policy.  I went to my current insurer instead

Claim that Insurance Money back.  The Dealership or an employee was at it, but now they know damn well there is an issue due to The Fix.

The VW UK CEO assured the Transport Committee that they would cover cost to Owners with vehicles requiring The Fix and the repairs if any & not Ill Affects etc.

Paul Willis. That is the man.   The man that can, the man that will not see.

Trust Building Measure 24 Month Guarantee from VW Group.   Skoda / VW can not have you out of pocket.

Once you get a concrete answer to what contribution etc you get from skoda i would try and push to get that money back that you have had to pay for this hire car!

Lol what he said. Popped up just as i hit submit

Thanks guys.

i was waiting on a call about contributions, but that turned into the escalation to Emmisions

Not a contribution.   You have no responsibility.   100% them.  Accept nothing less than all your costs covered.

Error not 12 million in the UK but 1.2 million and many of the early cars done were owned by VW Finance.  That was when they said only 1% complained, then 2%.

but rest of story is OK.

There is an update in the Roomster section from the member with one that had the diesel in the engine oil issue.

& A good outcome for them.

This is happening quite often in Volvo V50s with dpf. I know because I've had the same problem. Problem is that the car is constantly regenerating the DPF. Diesel runs down the oil pan from the cylinders. Resulting in rising oil levels, and eventually the crank house ventilation will suck oil and diesel making the engine accelerating even if you turn off the key.

Only way to save the engine is to put in highest gear and brake it to a stop.

I'm pretty sure this is also the case with these engines. Especially after the diesel scandal. I think the fix is putting in more fuel to lower nox gasses etc.

To lower NOx without SCR either power needs to be reduced or EGR increased to cool the charge.

Abstract: Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is an effective strategy to control NOx emissions from diesel engines. NOx emissions may be further reduced by cooling of the EGR stream. Drawbacks of EGR include increased PM emissions and increased fuel consumption.
