Mini service kit - 1.9 tdi PD pre-FL

Featured Replies

Getting ready to put the SoreNoseOcty back on the road, so given that it stood for 6 months+ before we got it I need to give it a simple coat of looking at.

Mileage is around 130k miles and whilst I'm comfortable that the previous owner kept up the services (he's a proper engineer) I don't have a detailed service history. I do know the cambelt and water pump were changed at about 95k.

At this point I'm planning on an oil change (fixed interval so 5W-40/505.01 ordered from Parks - thanks xman) plus oil filter and sump plug (recommendations for a good source?).

Is it worth doing air and cabin filter at this point or just roll them into the next service?

Regards, Mike

Personally Id change the air filter each time, for such a low price there's no point clogging the engine with an old one. Best deals I've found for parts is using GSF car parts along with one of their crazy weekend discount codes, between 55-60% off at checkout! At the moment using code WED60, I can get the air, oil and fuel filters and a sump plug for the grand total of £20....

Thanks to @robt100 and GSF's discount I've ordered air, oil and cabin filters, sump plug plus brake fluid for just over 20 squid! Excellent :)

Thanks also to @xman I've ordered 5l of "proper" VW oil for just over 21 squid.

OK, so that's the easy bit done; al I have to do now is wait for the postman and the b&%$ rain to stop ...

Glad it worked, the 60% deal was so good I did the same. Both my octy and the mrs' VW Caddy use the same filters and oil etc. So ordered filters from GSF, oil from parks, and can service both cars on a full service for a princely sum of £100 for both :D
