Supermarket Idiots.

Featured Replies

Parked my car up in Tescos well away from other cars as usual.Coming back to my car a woman in a black i20 parks right next to my passenger sides she gets out she slams her door into my car.

She tried to blame the wind but, anyway had look at my car could not see any damage so she walks off and I drive off but decide to stop in the middle of the car park in better light to have a look and sure enough there is a crease mark on the rear on the near side panel, not much to look at but damage non the less.Waited 10 mins or so to see if she came back and could not wait any longer so left a note on her asking her to ring me -fat chance of that I think!.

Did you take down the reg number, CCTV in the car park ?

When did this occur? If this morning she may well phone you,

Well well the person involved rang up Her insurance and passed my phone number on to them. There are some decent people in the world.

Why did She have to park right next to me in the first place?.

This is why I always walk to the supermarket. Bonus is the exercise and you tend to spend less if you have to cary it home. Also guaranteed no damage to your Pride and Joy.

Not having a great week, my Mother passed away last Sunday and this just tops everything off.A very minor incident but could have done without it..

I've got dents on the side of my Up! (passenger side) that hack me off, getting them sorted next year.

Mine were done on a maccies carpark whilst I was working so sadly I can't point the finger,

Just looks an eyesore,

Also on another car park a white car had scraped my passenger wing (I know the colour from the traded paint).

Sorry to hear about what happened to your mother hope your family are alright!

The repair centre who have been given the job want the car for 2 days!.It is a 2-3 hour job easily, but the longer they keep the car the more hours they can book to LV I suppose.

Not having it this week, with all the running around for mums funeral etc.

It will need filler, primer, topcoat maybe lacquer and time drying in between surely. They wont be working on it solidly for 2 days.

I have seen SMART repair technicians working on neighbors cars with damage must worse than mine and they are finished in a couple of hours.

The job was given originally to Auto Glass Body Repairs but they will only do the repair off road,on a drive way etc which I do not have.

Not a great photo but you make out the distortion in the paint work just aft of the door shut line.

It's happened to me recently where I parked in a tumbleweed area of the car park and came out to find another car parked so close I had to get in through the passenger door.

I can't fathom why people do it.

The annoying thing about this is MY insurance premium will most probably increase at renewal time even though I am the innocent party.

Most cars have distortion near leading door edges, my new Superb has quite a lot, very annoying, but I've noticed it on lots of cars even expensive. Must be "factory adjustments" to get shut lines etc acceptable.

I didn't notice on delivery, in fact it was several weeks later when I looked at it from across the road from an angle on a bright sunny day. It was the reflection of the cars parked opposite that gave it away.

This has happened to me on more occasions than I care to remember. You know, where the wife says "could you have parked any further away?" to which I reply "no"

It's more often than not a complete pile of :swear: that parks next to your immaculate, gleaming pride and joy :wall:

I wonder if any psychological studies have been done on this phenomenon. Is it some kind of perverse comfort thing?

Its just carelessness and accidental I expect.

I have to respectfully disagree.

I am certain it is a deliberate action, albeit with a lack of thinking as it happens when there are dozens of empty spaces in the vicinity.

Most people try to park as close to the entrance as is possible even when it is a very awkward space to access. Also, if it were a like-minded person who was trying to avoid damage to their car  (unlikely, as they are usually filthy and battered)  why park right next to you.? Would it not make infinitely more sense to leave at least one space between them and other cars that are already parked when they have many, many empty spaces to choose from?

I will respectfully disagree due to my experience in carparks and minimal damage to my car, and noting many people exiting their cars with respect for others.. Someone did hit my rear wing once which was expensive but not a door opening issue. They didn't stop or leave any details either.

I hope you don't incur any damage in the future.

A few months ago I parked near the supermarket entrance as I was in a hurry. On return  I noticed someone had hit the front spoiler of my car and had dented it,no note left.

Well, the car is ready, pick it up tomorrow morning fingers crossed they have done a good job.Must admit the DACIA Duster has not been too bad to run around in for a couple of days.

gkr47, I think you may have misunderstood both of my posts on this issue.

I was not referring specifically to car park damage as such but more about those who choose to park right next to you in a fairly empty car park.

If for whatever reason these people want to park close to you why not leave at least one space between the vehicles when there are literally dozens and dozens to choose from thereby negating the risk of potential damage (e.g. children often throw or even kick the doors open)

I have absolutely no doubt you personally are a very careful and considerate driver (and passenger) but it is not people like you that we need to worry about.
