updating Columbus sat nav

Featured Replies

I know this has been discussed before but I cant seem to find the discussion when I search. I have downloaded from the portal the update onto my computer but when I try to transfer it to a 32 GB SD it tells me that I need a further 12GB. I thought from previous discussions that the update is 24 GB so I am puzzled?

I'm guessing it will be an issue with the SD card. FYI my last download was c25GB. You could try reformatting the card - it may have some files hidden somewhere on it, or may even be corrupted in some way.

It's also worth checking what the file size is as shown on your pc, in case it is trying to copy more than just the files you need.

If neither of those works, I'd try it with another SD card. Full-size cards seem to fare better in the Columbus unit than the minis from what I have read.

I don't know if this is the same thing but I update mine overnight while it is on the drive via WiFi.

I just update all, I don't know if it updates the operating system but definitely the map data.

I assume that I load the file called HIGH12_...U_201819 which in turn contains Mib1 and Mib2 and not the zip file? I have formatted the 32GB Extreme Pro SD card and it still says not enough space?

Does it carry on downloading after locking the car? or did you need to leave it open with the unit switched on?

Yes, just start it off, remove the key, lock it and walk away.

I do watch it start downloading for a couple of minutes though....

My experience on Win 10

You go to the official Skoda update portal and enter your VIN you will be offered updates that are available and appropriate for your car.

http://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-GB

Select what you want and click download,  a  download/unpacking manager is downloaded, which is a small exe file which you then run. That will pull down all the updates to your download folder and then it carries on and unpacks files to your SD card. It asks for an empty 32gb SD card formatted to fat32 with 4k cluster size, however that's an impossible combination so I just formatted it to default cluster size.

It takes a couple of hours to unpack the files to the SD card in the case of my class10 card. It fits with a few GB spare.

Load only Mib1, Mib2 and the metainfo2.txt file (all should be within the folder you mention). They should easily fit on a 32Gb card.

I've done all of that, but putting the card in the slot and searching for updates, the display just stays searching for ages with nothing found.

So I parked to car as close as I could to get the wifi to connect and tried downloading that way. Nothing has happened, no notification of completion or anything and the version is still the same as it ever was.

Flippin' frustrating this updating lark.

What is your version number?

Mine says 1125
