I did mention about rotating the connector 180 degrees, i nearly broke mine that's how I found out.

Did you swap the door icons over?

I'm trying to buy can't find the settings or maybe I don't know what I'm looking for lol.

at the moment I'm only getting sound out of the passenger side speakers :/

Factory settings, passcode 3368.

I would check the connector is in properly for the speakers or check that the balance control is in the middle.

Okay so in factory settings what exactly am I looking for?

Think it's under CanBus.

Ah okay, I'll check it out 2moro Coz I'm inside a warm cozy flat now and don't want to trek to car for this.

on the plus side, I've ordered a new fakra connector and the repair kit thing. Hopefully I can fix it Coz radio would be nice if not then I'll just do that app thing you mentioned to get DAB

also, fixed the Bluetooth sound problem, Coz I set my iPhone to mono audio and left only (Coz left earphones working only) the sound came out of the left speakers but it's all sorted back to normal stereo quality surround sound.

so the only thing I Gotta do now is fix fakra connector and change the door setting

Okay so I've had it for several days and I'm loving it. It's made driving so much more fun now coz of the bouetooth, the UsB charging and also the Navigation!!! The main thing I was after and it's brilliant, sometimes it's a little off but not by much where I'd consider running myself off the road,

just having 1 issue, it's a small issue but it's an issue nonetheless. It doesn't turn off when switching the car off. I'm having to manually turn it on and off.

Not a huge deal but if there is a way to get it functioning along with the car.

also, I've given up on he fakra issue Coz it's a headache to fix and replacing is just as expensive :/ guess no radio it is

Wired up wrong, your 12v and ignition connections need to be flipped

I could be wrong, as maybe the head unit is just badly designed and always draws power, but there are two lines, usually yellow/red, sometimes they need to be flipped as it will always be on otherwise, but can’t confirm 100%

The yellow/red lines you are referring to are they the ones that go in the back of the head unit?

That’s it but I’m not 100% - this fixed the issue for me before but your head unit may be different. I’d appreciate someone else’s input :D generally red and white always serve the same purpose as far as I Know. 12v power, then ignition

@sakta - there isn't a switched live to the standard headunit in a MK2 Octavia. It only has permanent live and on/off is done by CAN-bus.

@MhdNomy - I'll start by saying I've no idea which headunit you've fitted or any wiring you've needed to do. That being said, there are two obvious reasons for battery drain that come to mind.

First is that the headunit is expecting a CAN-bus message that never arrives. This is common when people fit newer headunits to older cars and is generally fixed by updating or upgrading the CAN gateway. As it's an aftermarket headunit, there might be a setting to change but you'd need to check the manual that came with it or ask the seller.

Second is the switched and permanent lives being mixed up. As I mentioned above, there is no switched live as standard in the Octavia so if you've not needed to run extra wiring, it's unlikely to be this.

I've never used an Android based headunit so my suggestions might be too generic...

@langers2k

hi mate, thank you for suggesting a fix to my issue, much appreciated man.

since I don't know what a CAN gateway or how to upgrade is I'll have to email the seller about this and see if he can shed light Coz tbh I do like the headunit but if it's constantly having me jump starting my car then it's a bit fruitless.

Cheers @sakta and @langers2k

 :giggle:ngl I'm planning on making this car look nice too but it seems too costly rn, especially like body mods and all

(if u could recommend any website or body mod sites/shops, would be nice)

This might help you, dip switch 3 to on,

Yeh it's already on :/

thats what is troubling me

Your car has CAN-bus so that image suggests it should be off.

If it's on, you'll need to wire a switched live to get the headunit to turn on/off.

Did you fix this issue, I'm looking at purchasing an Android head unit but as mine is 2007 and they all state 2007 onwards and I believe it will cause battery drain on mine if I order one, my other option was to install a battery master kill switch so it didn't matter which one to go for even if they do cause battery drain when not in use.
