Pillar vent issue

Featured Replies

Any of you Superb owners had the issue with the pillar vents breaking down? I'll have to replace the passenger side pillar vent on mine (LHD), because I can only tilt the central flap (with the handle on it), the outer flaps have somehow crumbled in the mechanism, making them static (not linked to the central flap). Is this a potential ageing problem? If it is, I'll have to get the opposite side one just in case ... :D

I haven't noticed it on mine, though I very rarely interact with them (my boys are a bit too small to use them themselves yet). One tip on removing them: pop off the B-pillar upper trim (there's a screw hidden behind the 'Airbag' badge near the top) first - makes it much easier to remove the vent.

YES! I blamed my youngest son for breaking it though....

Received the part today, though I believe the color is off (not that light like mine), so I'll see what is broken on the existing one, and if I can make a working one from two vents

keen to hear where you bought yours from, maybe a picture of it and the cost? Thanks

Been busy, so forgot to update this topic. I've bought a used one from ebay.co.uk, it cost me 15 GBP with shipping. They're as rare as they can get, the best option would be to try at any breaker's yard. The old one's plastic just crumbled in several places, as it can be on the last three photos.
