Superb 2012 bluetooth music not working?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a Skoda superb 2012 and im having some bluetooth issues that I did not have before. When I first bought the car, I was able to play music and I was receiving and sending calls through my bluetooth. Recently, the phone connects to the bluetooth and I can talk over the bluetooth when making calls however I cant seem to listen to any music using my phone and bluetooth. The bluetooth option is greyed out even though my phone is connected to the bluetooth. I have tried a Iphone as well as a galaxy S8 plus but I still get the same issue with both phones so it has something to do with the car. When I first bought the car, I was able to press the bluetooth audio button on the columbus head unit and I was able to listen to music through the car speakers but now, all I can do is receive calls through the car speakers but cant listen to music. Why is this happening!?

The bleutooth module under my car is this: 3C8035730C

I have tried removing the big connector with the white clip on it and plugging it back in but nothing changed.

If someone could help it would be great.

Thank you.

Yeah, I've had the same issue since the second time this iPhone and, indeed, all previous iphones, connected to the car.

1st time it was fine and I could access the media player, but now I can't get to the player via BT, albeit, I haven't really searched to try and find a solution.

Did you make any changes to the car or the phone's bluetooth configuration before this happened? Were any software updates applied to the phone as well?

To give a little background on the setup in the Superb:

The module in the car can connect to the phone in two different ways: one is rSAP and the other is HfP. The difference has implications for phone functionality, but may also have implications for media (I rarely use BT media so I don't know as much about this bit).

In rSAP mode, the car effectively disconnects the SIM card from the phone and connects it to a GSM tranceiver in the car over BT: any internet based functionality on the phone will not work as it is no longer connected to the cellular network. If you are streaming music from an online service and the phone is connected in rSAP mode, it could explain the problem. Also, in this mode, any calls or text messages received while connected are not synchronised with the handset when you disconnect from the car.

In HfP mode, the system routes all phone audio to the car via BT but leaves the SIM card connected to the phone and the phone otherwise works as normal; all internet based functionality should work as normal.

The only real benefit of rSAP over HfP is that it can provide better connection quality in areas with poor phone coverage since it's using a larger antenna that is outside the car. Annoyingly, the car will default to rSAP for new connections and you will need to go into the setup menu in the MFD to change it to HfP.

On the phone, check what options/permissions are configured for bluetooth connections: you will need to make sure Media Audio is enabled there.

Hello.. You where quite right about the RSAP and Hfp modes... On my MFD I had 2 phone modes "Premium" and "Handsfree".. I have put it back to "Handsfree" and the phone connects without sim mode. However!!! I now dont have a Bluetooth option in my media player??? I see, CD and AUX but it doesnt say bluetooth any longer so I cant click on it to play music via the car speakers.

The bluetooth option used to be greyed out and now it doesnt show at all????

Thanks.

Check that 'Media Audio' is enabled in the phone's settings for this Bluetooth connection.

I just had a look at this on my own car. Like you, Bluetooth was greyed out in the media player. Two things sorted it out. Turning on media audio on the phone was one.

The other, interestingly, was that the phone must be separately paired for media playback. It's in the Bluetooth menu on the MFD.
