I have just changed my head unit from a cheap WinCE unit that came with the car to a better android head unit.  Both have canbus integration; the old unit had a separate box, while the new one has it built-in.

However since fitting the new unit I've noticed that the compass heading has disappeared from the maxidot.  I found that quite useful, so I'd like to get it back.  Any idea why it should have disappeared?  If the old aftermarket unit supported it, I'd be surprised if the new one doesn't.

It's down to the android headunit at a guess.

 

You can probably install a compass module instead

 I've got a compass module, 3C0919965, and found out how to wire it - it needs canbus high, canbus low, 12v  and ground.  I wondered if anyone could advise on the best place to install it in a Superb II.  I'm aware that all these are available behind the head unit, but there is a shortage of space there.

I know in the Passat B6 and the Golf 5 there is a dedicated location for the module (and a wiring harness connector too), but as far as I'm aware this doesn't exist in the Superb II or does it?  They both use the boot/rear hatch space, which might be easiest for the Superb too - if there is somewhere to patch into the wiring there.
