I tow our caravan with my 67 plate VRS 245 quite regularly with no issues.

No issues with 1.4TSI 150 ps Euro 6 engines.

 

As to the 1.4TSI / TFSI Euro 5 132-136kw Twincharger Engines last registered in Skoda Fabia Mk2 vRS in 2015 but last built in 2014 there are issues still to this very day.

Chain tensioner issues more common on the CTHE engine 2012-2014 than the CAVE 2010-2012 which had the more common excessive oil use, 

but so do some of the less than 1,000 Skoda Fabia with the CTHE in the UK have oil drinking habits.

So not a million years ago,  not even a much over 1,000 days. Some having issues right this very month.   Different cars and subject though.

With regards to the petrol engine for the vrs, this doesn't paint at good picture for a prospective owner. 

 

Really making choosing another VAG car difficult for me.
