Raised boot floor- mk2 octavia estate?

Featured Replies

The fact that I can't seem to find one online tells me I may need to design and build one myself. Unless anyone can point me in the right direction?

Cheers

The elegance came with the raised false floor as standard.

It then makes the boot floor level with the boot lip.

That seems to be what I'm looking for. Any idea where I can get my hands on one?

A breakers yard?

My old MK1 Elegance had it and I thought that the MK2 Elegance that I purchased sight unseen would have but it didnt, my old one looked very similar but like everything on the MK2 it had been subtly improved by increasing the depth at the front end, with a little woodworking and fabrication/modification of fixing brackets I made it fit and gained the extra height, the rear edge is a slightly different shape and was trimmed to fit.

When I scrapped the MK1 I saw 2 other MK1's in the yard with a raised boot floor.

Looks like a trip to a breaker then. Had hoped to find one for sale on here or on ebay, but no luck

I bought one recently from another Brisky so they are around. When I was looking I also found a new one listed for around £170 but I'll have to root about to find the link ...

You could try a Want ad on here, too.

Is it 100% that a MK2 Elegance had the raised boot floor as standard?

When I bought mine S/H recently it did not have one nor any signs of one ever being fitted.

If you cannot find what you want then a MK1 type will fit with only minor woodworking and bracketry mods, in fact if you accept the shallower depth hardly any modification at all, I saw 2 of them in GW Bridges breakers, M23 south of Gatwick, both in good dry useable condition.

100% on the facelift models.

I have one available in Lancashire now I've moved on to a mk2 ...

I have a mk2 Octavia Elegance and I have the raised floor in mine HTH

100% pre-fl L&K.

They are just useless dead weight anyway.

From fridge freezers to washing machines, if you can get it up to the boot lip and in, a few extra inches lifting out isn't going to be a problem.

An inconvenience yes, why have a lip in the first place.

Thanks for all the replies peoples.

With mine being a mk2 FL I definitely think I'd need one from a newer car ? Not really fussed for messing about with modifications to an older one, brackets etc. Rather a direct fit if possible.

I agree with the statement why have a lip in the first place. It seems redundant and just a pain in the arse tbh. However, that extra few inches will make all the difference. With my job, things being able to roll in and roll out with as little hindrance as possible is quite important. :)

I've sent messages to a few people on Ebay who are breaking mk2 elegance models. See how I get on.

We all have different needs but to me its not a raised floor to aid loading but a superb storage space and definitely the best thing about the car and was my number one requirement when choosing a replacement hence buying another Octavia.

I have to be very self sufficient to the extent of almost being a survivalist, I have had to sleep in the car before at minus 10°c when snowed in and worst still another time when the fuel sender lied and I ran out of diesel and had no heater. It didnt help that I had been under ice scuba diving that evening, had forgotten my bootees and had to dive wearing my hiking boots and socks so my feet were soaked through, they were just beginning to warm up from the heater when the engine died, where I live if you break down you will likely see no-one till the next morning.

I have tools, spares, emergency windscreen, folding shovel, folding bow saw even a folding mini sackbarrow in there as well as a sleeping bag, a goretex bivvi bag and goretex jacket and overtrousers  in compression sacs, its pretty much full to the brim, I have been carrying this stuff since 2005 and most of it has been of use one time or another.

A real pain in the backside when I need to remove the spare wheel though!

For me, too.  I tow a trailer a lot and carry towing straps, extra lights, packing pads etc. so the "out of sight" storage is great.

I agree with the problem of spare wheel access; one of my ongoing missions is to find storage bags of the right dimensions to hold the stuff in the storage area so I can lift it out easily when needed - and also help keep stuff tide (not one of my strong points, I confess)

I have just done something similar after seeing what my neighbour (same Octavia Estate) did, he used shallow plastic storage bins with clear lids, you can squeeze a lot into them and they lift out easily. Unfortunately with all the bigger stuff like the sleeping bags, socket sets, toolrolls etc I only had space for one but it has made a big difference, no more grovelling around in the dark trying to find small bits amongst the clutter with the boot floor resting on my head.

The sire storage comparments take a lot fo my stuff as well, the ratchet straps, footpump etc and I ven managed to fit in a proper steel 5l jerrycan (identical to the larger 5 gallon one) and spout standing vertically so no chance of it leaking in the storage area like before.

As much as I like to carry a lot of stuff in case I hate seeing a boot full of toot.

@bryanvr6 - You might find it listed as a "dual boot" or a "false floor".

@MicMac - Well, on mine it means that I can keep tools, and anything up to 6 laptop computers, out of sight without closing the roller blind.

You running a Beowulf cluster in your car? :)

Something to handle the radar-controlled "defensive armament", perhaps?  I've often dreamed of a mind-controlled laser setup for dealing with some of the more extreme roadgoing a-holes but it's probably just as well they're only dreams ...

Nothing that interesting; I was at an event at Thiefrow with some mates, and they all asked me to take their laptops up to Glasgow afterwards. I was making a serious point about how the second level floor offers useful concealed storage space under it.
