Upgrading interior lights (footwell and doors)

Featured Replies

My new Rapid has footwell and door lights. They are LED-based. The light is in my opinion quite weak in brightness. I took off one lamp from the footwear and door. The first picture is the one from the driver side door, the second from driver side footwell. Can anyone say if it is possible to find replacements that include more light emitting diodes or another workaround to get more light?

In the CAR menu on your infotainment you can adjust the brightness. Mine were too bright on delivery so I dimmed them.

Even on the highest setting these lights are really dim.

would be more useful if the door lights lit the roadway when opening the car door ... "puddle lights" comes to mind

I wonder if they could be replaced by standard light bulbs.

If you decide to go on with the installation of the lights from Aliexpress above: I connected the passenger footwell light connector to one of the four connectors in the new light set. I then could use one of the remaining three as the passenger footwell light which left two for the rear seat footwells. I opened the mid console and slid the wiring under it, also I managed to get the wiring to the rear footwells under the floor carpet with the help of steel wire to pull them through.
