Bigger tyres

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I'm new to BRISKODA so hi to all.

I'm looking for some advice on my Octavia vrs.

I have the 19'' extreme alloys 225/35 R19 but looking to fit 225/40 R19 just wanting to know if this would be ok

Thanks John

Welcome to Briskoda

Quite a few members have gone down the same route and have fitted 235/35/19 on the 7.5 X 19 Extreme Alloy wheel

If you particularly want to go 225 40 19 then yes, they will be fine:

https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=225&aspect=35&diameter=19&wheelwidth=7.5&offset=51&width2=225&aspect2=40&wheel_size=19&wheel_width=7-5&offset2=51

As above though, 235 35 19 will give extra sidewall height and rim protection, and are more common, in some cases cheaper than the OEM 225 35 19's.

Went for 2 Michelin PS4 235s on the fronts the other week. Noticeably wider (apparently, Michelin are on the wider-sidr anyway, whereas Pirelli are on the narrower side, so the difference is greater). And MUCH more rim protection!

Difference in circumference is minimal, too - around 1.3%.

Can you tell me please " Do you run the 235's at the same pressure as the OE 225's ( 39 Psi / 2.7 bar )."

Thanks

Hi there

Can you take some pictures of how these look, I have the 19" Extreme also and would be interested to see what difference some more rubber would make to the look.

Thanks

Also interested as 235 width PS4S are the tyres I plan to move to when the current crap Bridgestone and Pirellis have worn a bit more

Currently running at the same pressure. Tyre fitter had it under-inflated by about .4 bar (dont know if that was factory spec). Seems ok now, but could possibly do with slightly higher.

Don't know if the pics do it justice, but here you go...!

...and I still haven't got round to washing the tyre grease off...

Looks pretty much the same with extra protection.... Might need to see the whole side on view to be sure but these look good... Thanks

Yeah, you can't tell how much wider they look unless you see the Michelins side-by-side with the Pirellis. The P-zeros look like they're pulled tight over the rims in comparison.

I have 235/35 Michelin PS4 front/back for the last 3,000 miles and they offer much better wet/dry grip than the standard 225/35 tyres. However they are noisier than the OEM Pirelli P Zero tyres, much more expensive and my aftermarket rims are wider at 8.5J compared to the standard 7.5J OEM wheels. Finally I do run them at 2.7bar like the fuel flap stipulates and economy is no worse even though I expected the extra aero drag to worsen economy.

Run my 235 PS4S's ar 3 bar, I obviously corner harder than you guys, the turn in is spot on & I can't see any unusual wear.

Slightly firmer ride but, having DDC I can always soften the ride when the family are in the car.

Got 8k miles outta the fronts & 12k outta the rears once swapped forward, hoping for a little more from the PS4S's
