VRS EDL, ASR vs ESP?

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Today I have put a deposit down on a new black Fabia VRS. Gave up looking for a Golf GT 130 TDi as this one has the same engine and seems to drive just as good, plus its been untouched by another owner:).

Managed to get the whole deal, Cruise control, ESP, mudflaps and Black Metallic paint for the RRP

Will you be waiting for a while due to all the options?

Wouldn't it have been a good idea to ask the salesman what it does before spending

Is it true it can reduce your insurance if mentioned that you have ESP installed?

I have heard of some insurers offering it as it is quite a good safety feature, worth asking the question when phoning about

Thanks dudes.

lol' date=' he told me the ASR and ESP were the same thing when we went for the test drive. Was only when I got home and looked at the spec list again I realised it had both!

There may be someone along shortly to explain, but you could try RTM ;)

as above ESP keeps you going where your supposed to be going, it knows all sorts of thing. steering wheel direction, lateral G, longitudinal G, individual wheel speeds, power going to each wheel, braking force going to each wheel, altitude etc etc

it is totallt different to ASR but they are linked if you know what i mean, basically ESP uses ASR at times :)

Also as ESP is a more refined system it isn't as annoying as ASR - ASR on it's own seems to kick in too early or too late, depending on how you look at it, whereas ESP appears to try other tricks to keep you going first.

With the Limited Slip Diff (LSD) I've got now the ASR can still kick in when I boot it (too) hard with my remap though :)
