Fabia vRS performance when "chipped"

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I should be getting my littlle vRS late Jan which when run in it Will be chipped.

The question is what sort of 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile times am i looking at for say 180bhp.

Thanks for your time.

I think you'd be looknig at 180BHP as a minimum! :D

As an estimate because I don't even think anyone has ever actually found out the figures for a chipped vRS

0-60: 8 seconds at best, maybe a tad less with good practise and a good remap.

0-100: based on a 0-60 of 8 seconds, I would say you'd hit a ton in 15 seconds at best.

A quarter mile is a bit different. As a figure out my head I would say you would cross the 1/4 mile line in about 15 seconds too, possibly doing 100. Anyone who wants to put me right, please do, as these are vey much guestimates, as opposed to the reailty.

Based on Ibiza TDI130 figures.. someone with a chipped 180bhp has done 60 in under 7.5s

qtr mile and 100 should be around 15s too dependant on the start you get :)

EDIT: Heres a extract from a Diesel car article about a superchipped Ibiza TDi.. it was only pushing 172bhp:

STANDARD times:0-60mph in 9.6 seconds, 30-50mph (4th gear) in 6.7 and 50-70mph (5th gear) in 7 seconds dead.

And after its injection of adrenaline... 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds, 30-50mph in 5.5 seconds, 50-70mph (and that

In ideal conditions and allowing for speedo error, I would also think that very low 7's is realistic for a 180bhp/300lbft vRS Fabia

I timed my A4 TDi Quattro -chipped to 185 from 150- which weighed a LOT more (but had 4WD for red-line starts) to a best of 7.3 seconds in the wet. The average was 7.6, and yes, I did allow for 3mph speedo error! The 30-70 was high 7's, which I think the Fabia vRS should beat also as wheelspin should not be so much of an issue once off the line.

Perhaps we should find a private test track on the 13th to test these figures against the Jabba tune! :D

hmm. So around 7.5 to 60mph. Nice. Think the 15sec to a ton is pushing it a bit. That would enter into the league of focus rs and leon cupra r. It can't make it that fast, can it?

Think i'll be doing a before and after test on my vrs with my ap-22.

Think this year i'll be taking a trip to the santa pod.

Thanks people.

I think that low 19's or 20 secs is realistic for a TRUE 100mph

Graeme - I think some mutual testing is needed on the way to Derby on the 13th... :D

Not sure how to work it though? If I'm a passenger in your car, my 13 stone will weigh it down a little bit,. so add 0.2 or 0.3 to the time, and then?? The same for my newly Jabba'd machine too I hope. :D [anticipation simley]

Faboka - I know 7.5 to 60 is half the time to 15 seconds, with only another 40mph to go, but you have to remember (I think) that 4th gear should do up to damn close to 100mph (my third goes to 80 after all) - so maybe a smidge of fifth gear say from 3200RPM+, will be all thats needed to top the ton, and a Jabba'd 5th gear should be stonking!

Sounds good. You should get a rough idea of what yours should be like at Duxford! :D

Then I'll take you out in an AmD mapped vRS ;)

Whats happen on the 13th?

December 13th = Meet in Derby - see midlands section of meets area for info.

November 23rd = Duxford meet - Cambridgeshire I think it is - meet & museum aire type flying thingy visit I believe. And one of our mods is going to be in a real state all the way around. I reckon he'll be dynamically blue with envy of some of the stuff there. :D

Anyone care to post a dyno plot of a remapped Fabia TDI? Particularly interested in the AmD and Jabba graphs.

TIA

Give me a month for a standard remapped TDI dyno-plot, but matt may be able to post his although IIRC his was using a boost box at the time. I'm looking for lots of room under the curves on mine, where they peak really doesn't matter too much for me. :D

I don't have a scanner though, so unless Jabba can stick a jpeg of my dyno on disk it will take me a while to get it online.

I'm glad I don't have a vivid imagination like yours, Jason. How is the lift-sharing going, BTW, or was that a figment of your feverish imagination too? :)

Lift sharing going OK. She asked if she could come down to the pub last night to watch me play darts and "stuff", but she bottled it at the last minute. :D:rolleyes: WOMEN!

what is "stuff" jason or does it involve dolly

I was thinking more of :dtp: :dtp: - and whatever happens after.

[why does everything get turned around to sheep?]

Just a tadge off topic, but you might like to read this for some tips on how to deal with members of the opposite sex, Jason.

After spending five minutes reading that, I've just realised I've wasted those 5 minutes! :D

I think I'll be taking absolutely no advice from that little clip... But thanks for the thought, Denis.

jason so what does happen after or do i not want to know and please no photos

Nice bit of software mate. I've pm'd you for a copy but i've forgot to put my email address on.

Cheers

Nice figures for the vRS remapped there, but, I'm not sure whether it being a six speed, as opposed to a five speed will make any difference (those stats are for a 5 speed box if I'm not mistaken)

Either way, it's a very positive outlook, isn't it? - Any chance of seeing the same stats for a TDI Fabia with 150BHP? (If I'm lucky enough to get that)
