England gets the UK Government that England votes for.

If there is a poor infrastructure in the South of England for some reason like lack of money from the Treasury or because local authorities have other priorities that will be that then.

Such is life.

Our local Tory drives a BMW X6 not very eco friendly choice even if it is diesel powered. Always expenses to claim to fill the beast up on us poor (voters) mugs.

This is a pathetic range really for a family sized car.

Just a joke building these and then the UK Government assisting in manufacturers importing and selling them in the UK with Grants.

28 kWh is a very old spec size and as batteries are improving at the rate of about 20% per annum it must be due a new battery of at least 40 kWh and it would be nice to think that the 64 kWh Hyundai battery pack could go in there but I suspect it might be more in the range of 45 to 50 kWh which should give the car a range of 250 miles at least.

Why the guy had the heated seat on at two bars when it was 5C beats me as I have only appreciated heated seats when meeting in to a half or all leather seats when the temperature is well below zero and then only for 5 or ten minutes until the internal temperature gets up to normal and I would have thought one  preheats the car before getting in.

The 64 kWh Hyundai-Kia battery pack looks to be the industry bench mark for non-Tesla price ranged cars and it will be interesting to see how the soon to be released 64 kWh LEAF, with temp management,  and 50 kWh Zoe, with DC charging show there real range which I expect to be well over 200 miles even in winter and 250-300 in summer conditions.

But just now Motability are buying these Hyundai Ioniq for those that want to lease them at no Advance Payment.

Fine if it suits people.

The issue is these cars that people are putting at charging points even when not needing charged while Charging Points are still at a premium.

If you can home charge are doing just the shop etc, then surely no need to take up charging points.

That is the issue, those that are just greedy or thoughtless,

as with Blue Badge Holders with no Disabled person exiting the car or 'With Children' or no Children there or getting out the car type parkers.

Problem is inappropriate fee structure.

Free is the biggest reason why people not needing a charge would hog those points. I have to put my hands up and say I'm guilty of this at our not-so-local Morrisons.

Per kWh at 50kW+ rapid chargers is the other issue. It is a very limited resource meant for a quick turnaround, like petrol stations. So I think they should be charged per minute. This way, people will no longer wait by their car until 99%, because it is a stupid way of using those chargers, most cars charging speed start taper around 60% and rapid charging beyond 80% is often very slow. (hence why most manufacturers quote rapid charging time up to 80%)

Local Authorities and the Governments of the 4 countries making up the UK need to get their act together a bit quicker.

Maybe once Chris Grayling MP has gone then!

points are NOT as yet in many places at a premium   and a lack of use will see them either not repaired (EcoTricity) or worse removed if not used   P.S. Sandbach M6 SOUTH   Has been broken for approx 18 months and is now bagged up I assume awaiting removal(2 chargers)   guess who

@cheshire_cat   do you mean in England or in your area or Nation Wide?    There are areas with many EV's, Taxi's that are EV's.

Charging points at Park and rides etc with people queuing.

of 2 pairs in south cheshire and a pair @M&S cheshire oaks  (Elsemere port Wirral)--- just car parks I use regularly,   I have seen 1 car one in one never seen CH in use and a couple in the 3rd location

There you go, a wealthy area and not many EV's charging.  Is that on routes where people are trying to get some distance travelling.

This is near an area of high levels of poverty & high death rate from drugs and just a hotel car park.

interestingly in the 3rd location the guy charging was running from I think south yorkshire into North Wales   this was 1/2 way and he was doing this 3 days/week in a BM'   he was 9 months in and well chuffed with his fuel savings

I pay attention to anyplace i am and the charging point situation, queuing etc for when i need to be using those places.

Plenty where i want to be going and week by week i see more people waiting to get to use a charger.

Thats is how it needs to be before more do install chargers, but that is happening quite quick now in Scotland.

Pity some of the best driving roads are a bit sparse still of chargers.

Marston's Inns, Travel Lodge, Premier Inns, Costa, Tesco, KFC, McDonalds and others and park and rides having them will be a game changer.

Then Car Dealerships with more chargers in areas available when the branches are not open....

I think many superchargers are on "private property" as a result of red tape in "public" areas and the hassle of getting anything done with our sclerotic  local authorities,  (our village has two e bays in its new car park but no chargers:wondering:  also hotels must find it brings in trade  as do Tesla"destination"  chargers

am  right that north of the border there is a push on this   no luck down here,  makes you wonder when you see how its gone in Norway

is that English or Scots  tax payers ;)     take a look here

I think the Oil & Gas revenue comes in the main from Scottish Waters and the majority of Duty on Alcohol from the Scottish Production and the population of Scotland is under 6 million.

So tax payers of Scotland and from Scottish Resources.  Who is paying for infrastructure in England?

Barnet formula ?   it's been a long 3 years :o

England can not pay for The Probation Services, Prisons, HS2, Heathrow Extension, enough Electricity / Nuclear, Defences, Oferseas Aid, NHS, Police, Water & Sewage,

etc etc.  The country lacks resources and a workforce prepared to do low paid jobs. So we will see just how things go.

& Go without EU Grants.

It has been a long few hundred years, but now England might need to stand on it's own feet.  Cut it's cloth accordingly.

Dig for Britain, dig for England.  Frack your oil and gas, have your wind farms, and keep the Nuclear Weapons and waste where it belongs.

BBC News running items on EV Charging today and giving Daimler-Mercedes some nice air time for their vehicles quick charging capabilities into the future as quick chargers are rolled out and eventually their models will be able to do the quickest charging.

As it is now, not that many that are that fast.
