EV real world range and cost to charge

Leased.

Price not really of interest.  Easy in and easy out and comfy seat and steering wheel is all that matters, and not many visits to fuel up.

And car companies are less worried by leases as if cars become more expensive due to BREXIT the residuals will be higher too.

but cheaper ?

The UK could set import duties rates on cars to less than 10% if it wished but is unlikely to do so as that would even further damage UK car production.

Also pound could go even lower with hard BREXIT making imported cars more expensive.

A leaf 2 could be attractive with the new bigger battery.

Just read a column in Evo (been away, so last month's issue) about range anxiety with a Model 3.

What range anxiety?

See cited issue of Evo.

Sorry. I don't usually spend money to buy rubbish written by traditional motoring journalists who have no idea how to operate an EV.

Bjorn Nyland or Fully Charged on youtube are my sources for EV, where EV gets driven by experienced EV drivers. The former has enough experience to be able to drive a 30kWh Kia Soul on a long distance race, arrive at the same time as 90kWh Jag I-Pace. It's all about understanding how the battery system works.

Handy if Dealers can keep dropping off new cars for all customers as required.

Or AA, RAC, Greenflag etc.

Just crap really if you have places to go people to see and things to do that do not involve hanging about charging points,

maybe in blizzards, hail storms, torrential rain etc. or even Heat waves.

If you want your life to revolve around EV charging then perfect.

This was written about the journalist's long term test car.

Since you haven't read the article, you can't have an informed view on the standard of the writing itself, never mind its technical accuracy.

Can I not have a view on traditional motor journalists reviewing EV's in general?

EV's what? ;)

This was an article about a guy trying to use "his" EV for a family holiday, and having to plan every trip around the few available charging points.

Shame we can't store the static electricity when we get undressed for bed. Thought it was Xmas again last night as every layer produced a spectacular light show in the bedroom. No wonder SWMBO was attracted to my electric personality.:blush

Knowledge is only useful if you have the wisdom to discern what to do with it. Hope that wasn't too philosophical for you at 16:28 on a Wednesday afternoon. Need to lie down now that took a lot out of my old brain.:sleepy:

I see nothing wrong with that.

I had been looking at doing North Coast 500 in my Skoda diesel, I see there's only 2 stations along the way (using their interactive map), so I'd have to plan my trip around the few available petrol stations.

In EV on the same route however, there's more than enough rapid charger along the route to enable even my short range Leaf to go around.  (but getting my Leaf to the starting point is a problem)

Tesla also routes you through their supercharger network if your car need a charge. There's a lot less planning needed when driving a Tesla, in comparison to other manufacturers. You can simply jump in, enter your destination and go, like any other ICE car.

There is no issues doing the NC500 in a diesel or petrol if you have 350 mile range even on a Bank Holiday long Weekend (Christmas - New Year Holidays, / Filling stations being rationed due to Oil Refinery strike action etc.

http://northcoast500.com/listing_categories/petrol-stations

Remember if Power lines are down though that will affect 'some fuel stations' without emergency generators to operate 'Fuel Pumps'  as it will 'EV Charging'.

But then Tills / tap your card & ATM's do not work,

so 'Cash can be King'.  If someone can open the till manually.

Carry an extra  10 litres of fuel, or with an EV maybe tow a Generator behind your car in Winter.....

The interactive map, when select petrol stations, only showed 2 on the NC500 route??

Electric car rapid chargers "hubs" (more than 1/2 per location seen currently) will need have battery packs to support all units charging at the same time. When they do, temporary power cuts won't be an issue:
