Many Plug in Hybrids never getting plugged in.

Featured Replies

Well who would have thought that government and businesses could be so fraudulent .

How many Government /ministers cars are used in this way, car hire  businesses etc. Those FOUND DOING IT pay back to HMRC.

HMRC / Treasury / Tax Payers were better off from the cars lugging about the batteries as the fuel consumption was higher and more Tax / Duty was taken in from the Petrol or Diesel purchased. The pollution will have been higher than the VED bands were manipulated to show, but that is as it has been for decades anyway.

Swings and roundabouts and just part of the gravy train that can be Company Car use or Company Cars not actually used for the use of the company other than reducing taxes paid,

grants received etc..

As the Hybrid vehicle is now with us it is interesting to note that  the financial benefits from the government  which actually is us, have been stopped, the reason given is because so many have been bought.  That would be one reason.  However, there might be another and that, is according to a survey , many companies have bought these vehicles because they were cheaper and have other benefits as well, such as no problems with the congestion charge, lower income tax ect. If you are running a company car you would have a fuel card so what would be the  point of spending time charging the battery, and if you are a busy rep then you do have the time to spend charging the battery. Many cars in this survey were found to have the charging cable still in the plastic box it came in and unused.  This means that there are many cars on the road producing the same mount of emissions that I do and paying a fifth of the road tax.

Do Skoda even make a hybrid Karoq?...

I know plenty of people who own running trainers that don’t go out for runs.

Just sayin:giggle:

Lots of people have Work Boots and Donkey Jackets yet do not work. (or ride a donkey. Maybe they do...... for pleasure...)

Many have pickups or vans with 'Highway Maintenance' signs yet never do Motorway Maintenance, maybe a bit of driveway work or roofing....

never seems to bother the HMRC.

No word of Skoda CZ being near producing a Hybrid and when or if they do Skoda UK will have to think a bit on if they import them and is it worth importing them.

Threads merged.

I think a lot of you are forgetting that plug in hybrids will still charge from the engine or during regenerative braking. Plug in is just a convenient/cheap way to extend range if you are in a position to take advantage of it.

Then there are those that dial down the regenerative braking just as there are those that switch off Stop / Start or disable it altogether.

Some taking advantage of the Free Parking or access to parking, lanes etc seems to be the point of the BBC Investigation.

?

Any word on the MY19 VW Golf GTE being available and the WLTP / RDE results.

Charging while braking, some might but not the Range Rover PHEV for one.  30 miles limit and then 25mpg unless you stop and recharge. Totally useless

Toyota are still tv advertising their hybrids and they are self charging, maybe that's the reason!

There is the thing,  Light Hybrid like Suzuki, Hybrid like Toyota,

and Plug in Hybrids that got the Government grant in the UK.

Now the RRP of UK Plug in hybrids might need to come down a bit, and yet Lease costs go up.

My bosses hybrid Toyota corolla was shouting about battery issues just last month. It had to do 3 full recharge cycles before they could analyse the findings. The result = We've nae idea, probably nothing.
