The Florida Skoda Superb 3 Estate

Featured Replies

The car is here, and it is time to think about extra bits'n'pieces, and ask the extra questions.

I hope the forum will continue to indulge me. It is "Florida" as I have FL in the plate.

I need a couple of few protective products for when I am carrying things:

Protector for the top side of the rear bumper.

Come sort of robust boot liner.

Protection for the passenger seat when folded flat.

Maybe elasticated seat covers that can be kept in the boot.

Some sort of thing for behind the front seats to keep things back and protect the leather.

And I need to give a little thought to a stronger 'variable boot floor', as the OEM item is limited to 75kg. A couple of battens sat underneath might do it, but I want a decent answer for the long term. At first through that might be a new version made of plywood and a piano hinge (£2 from Screwfix for a 1m item), or a set of perhaps 4 support battens hinged like a shear-frame.

I am having slight qualms about the pale leather, but a dark car with dark leather sans pano sunroof (could not afford to lose 50mm of height) would perhaps leave me feeling like Darth Vader in a coal scuttle.

Will probably start a new thread for these bits and pieces. This is the new thread.

@Bud has kindly reommended a Superskoda bumper protector, and traditional removal blankets - both god ideas.

Try these:

Might find they fit most of the reqs

The superskoda bumper protectors are good, see my pics.

That boot liner looks the ticket.

Can’t find the bumper protector pics

And also a thing called Hatchbag, which is flexible and popular but a little like origami and most suitable for people who transport flocks of Labradors rather than DIY materials with bungies and cargo nets.

That's because I haven't posted any yet.

Both the liner-with-lip and the Hatchbag recommednations are from people who have had several of them.

Update: Aha @Bud's pics. Should be via profile, but I can't find them either.

I have a hatchbag boot line in mine, it really is superb

Need that but in black

Try this or

The black one is shorter and looks bloody ugly in comparison. Might have to see if I can get the brushed stainless one black ceramic coated, that stuff is rock hard to scratch, but not sure if they do it in a gloss black

Looks like it’s the same size then, probably just the angle of the picture on the white car.

Are they adhesive? or do they require screwing in?

Adhesive. You get some alcohol cleaning wipes.  Its not budged since its been on and car is washed almost weekly.

I think I incline towards the Silver / Chrome version.

As yours has chrome on the car it will match, mine is a sportline and there is no chrome at all and with the car being black, i carried on the black theme lol

As far as I can see from the pics above, the Chrome one from @Bud seems to go over the top corner of the bumper, whilst the black one does not.

And inevitably Superskoda have more than one version.

I think the one I want is *this* one at 45 Euro:

On a separate note, a boot liner is on order from my link above, as is a pile of blankets. And I'm just writing my next list of questions, starting with "is there an analogue clock buried somewhere?"

F

hello!

I am UK based, but I asked what was available and I have a hard black plastic liner over my rear sill, same as Bud, Get one immediately. the sill is very fragile and prone to scuffing without one

Can I just check, Nick.

Do you mean the top of the bumper by "sill", or the ribbed chrome strip where the bootlid comes down and the release for the towbar is located?

Thanks

Updating:

1 - Protector for the top side of the rear bumper.

Ordered from Super Skoda.

2 - Come sort of robust boot liner.

The £25 lipped one mentioned up thread has arrived from Poland, rolled up in polysheet and dropped in the post . Looks excellent for stuff that might spill, like the Wickes paintable damp-proof course that coats the wheel-well in my current Corsa.

3 - Protection for the passenger seat when folded flat.

Removal blankets ordered which will do this, and also for the front seats when in mucky clothes.

4 - Maybe elasticated seat covers that can be kept in the boot.

See 3. Not needed.

5 - Some sort of thing for behind the front seats to keep things back and protect the leather.

Still require something to do that.

6 - And I need to give a little thought to a stronger 'variable boot floor',

DIY Project. Thread here. Will be a slow burn.

And continuing

7 - Mudflaps ordered from Superskoda.

And may I ask a couple of further questions?

8 - Are traction control and ASR purely a 4WD thing? Reading the handbook I notice a lack of buttons on the centre console of my SE L Exec.

9 - Is there a way to keep dash-buttons - especially the ones such as heated seats which are a little in shadow - illuminated whilst on daytime running-lists only? A small annoyance.

Thanks

Ferdinand
