i hear its more of a headache putting in non-DCC shocks into a car that already has DCC shocks, due to all the coding and errors that will result.  apparently DCC can't be fully "coded out".

there's a myriad of sensors and associated algorithms that will cause havoc, or will be upset if non-DCC shocks are installed.


I would expect so. DCC is connected to all parts of the car. Including TPM, ESC, all stability systems really. Even the automatic speed control thing (not sure how its called in English) is connected to it. Makes sense when you look at it.
There are actually aftermarket shocks already, not that expensive, the rest of the systems is the problem. Also the DCC has its own computer too.

KW actually seems to be the only one with aftermarket DCC shocks at this time.

P.S.: Dealer quoted me 400€ per shock only when I was asking about replacing rear shocks cause of the noise I had. The warranty would only pay if it was actually the shocks. We were guessing. On the end I don't really know what exactly was the noise, dealer fixed it when I drove over curbs with high speed. Accident and fixed by accident :D

Somehow I didn't follow-up on this. I've had a conversation with someone that upgraded his Superb DCC with coilovers (Bilstein B14 PSS) and he says it's possible but you will get an error on the dash, didn't imply that you get any functionality issues though. Ideally you can add one of these and then you're good:

DCC cancellation kit

So, upgrading a DCC car should not be that insanely expensive as assumed earlier, you can opt for any off-the-shelf kit that is compatible with your Superb and then add the cancellation kit for an extra £272.

Back on topic (or off-topic actually), a bit over a £1000 for the likes of Bilstein or KW is not unreasonable for a good coilover set but it pi55e5 me slightly that I opted for the DCC in the first place if I am to remove it it from the car. I was led to believe a simple Eibach springs upgrade would do the trick of subtle lowering and a bit better body control, however, I was told that the Eibach upgrade a) made Comfort mode unusable as with such a loose damping and shorter ride the car was hitting the bump stops (ok not a problem if Normal mode does not become too firm) and b) that the quality of stock DCC + Eibachs was actually a bit worse compared to the B14s that went on after (I am assuming not an ideal much of spring stiffness for the DCC damping characteristics?)

Would be nice to hear how others found their DCC cars to be feel like after only a springs upgrade, Eibachs must be one of (if not THE most) popular option for these cars...
