Booked in to BlueFlame!

Featured Replies

Just got off the phone with the guys at BlueFlame and they had a free slot for tomorrow morning to fit a full system!

They are missing off the shelf downpipe, but after having a word with the guys in the garage, they can make one of the day! ( no problem with this is there? )

Can't wait for a decent sounding exhasut, now the CAI is going to be orderd!

cant see there being a problem, BlueFlame make all the exhausts there anyway so they've just ran out of stock on the shelf... may cause a slight delay but no problems.

Brilliant firm, only tip is take a good book or paper & something to eat/drink in case you miss the sandwich van, theres fook all to do & no where to walk to

Totally agree with Stuart, brilliant firm. Don't worry about the downpipe, they made my complete exhaust, front to back whilst I waited.

Tis in the middle of nowhere though.

Sheer luck I found the BlueFlame bordem post and will take a taxi too the local shopping park ( the concourse ) and possibly lunch in the Crawford Arms!

My mate is coming with, so with the help of aa route finder should be there within a couple of hours from home.

On the doorstep then....I came up from Essex.

Blueflame based in skem. Fook all to do there.

Dont know where about in skem they are based. Have an idea but try not get lost in the land of roundabouts and no traffic lights.

I went from Winchester, no regrets So who has driven the furthest to Blue flame?

Alright Mate. Are you Chilled Budweiser off Hexus? Didnt you have an ITR?

Yeah I used too post on there till David banned me as I wouldn't sell my dSLR setup for the silly price he wanted too pay, then tried to part ex all his 'overtested' hardware too!

The ITR went around 18month ago as it was reaching that stage where everything was going downhill, paint, cambelt, interior and I thought I would do better selling for the 95% of what I paid an move onto another car.

It was supose to be a 200sx/Mr2/MX-5 but a lack of decent quality ones and not having a load of time too travel the UK, meant when my parents offerd me their two year old Corolla for a couple of thousand off I couldn't really so no!

Kept until I test drove the vRS due too bordem couple of weeks ago! And bought it the next day.

Can't live without a good induction roar and a nice exhasut so the mods have to be done asap!

Miss the ITR more than I ever thought I would, but I don't regret selling it for one moment.

Do yourself a favor & ask them to position the "Lamba" probe sensor (after the cat) further back or not so deeply inset (ie; using a spacer)!

There has been a few cases on here of the "Lamba" probe telling the ECU that the cat's shagged & the light coming on in the display!

Mine does it & EddyH had the same problem.

See what they say and post the answer please.

Trev,

Both yours and Eddy's are 4x4's , there does not seem to be the same problem with the Octy vRS's ?????????

Same engine mate! :D

So why is it only doing it on the 4x4's....mate;)

Is the exhaust in a different position, so that the lamba has to be where it is?

Looks like a question for Blueflame that one Gerry mate!

True it's only happening on the 4x4 or should I be asking for the move?

Best bet is to ask why it happens on 4x4's, then ask if there is any problem in the "oping" if you have any other modifications done.

Blueflame exhausts are bloody good, it's the nigley bits that bite!

Very interesting thread as I assumed it was a 1.8T problem rather than a specific 4x4 issue! Mines a 4x4 and since having the BF system fitted if I travel in fifth at around 40mph ie real steady relaxed cruise; my engine light comes on and stays on!

I also went for the 200cel cat to avoid this issue.

Only thing I can think of is the 4x4 has twin cats as standard - could the 4x4 be setup for lower emissions in the ECU or is that just daft?

Now were cooking Lee.

I had the 100 cell cat fitted!

Maybe we can get some answers now! :)

Blueflame ,,,, It's a 1.8T problem ,,,, or a 4x4 problem ,,,, what's your answer?

Chilli-Bud ,,,, your the man!

Good luck.

You going for the de-cat of sports cat mate? Go for de-cat, you won't regret it!

De-cat sounds far more of a hassle for little gain than going for a 100cell sports cat to be honest, seeing as all my MOT's will be taken in the dealership as there free for life.

Although I would like the louder sound, my father would not thank me for it, having a little one around a lot of the time sleeping, and the power gain won't be very much more than around 3-5bhp, which in the larger picture isn't a big problem. Then the fault light just sends me straight back too 100cell sports cat.

It may just be a 4x4 problem as I am running a 200 cel cat on my vRS with no problems with fault codes.

When I spoke to Blueflame I was advised to go for the 200 cel cat as it gave minimal performance difference and would not cause any fault codes.

The 4X4 has higher emissions than the other 1.8T engines (150/180) with manual transmission.

Cheers Denis, as this may be the problem with the 4x4 set up. I'm running the 100 cet sports cat on my Octy vRs and no problems at all with the light or the MOT.

What I was specifically thinking was that if the 4x4 had too cats it may be more efficient at filtering the outgoing gases than say the single cat on the vrs - therefore the sensors would be working at different parameters ie when to trigger. If the VRS octy is largely unaffected by this problem when fitted with a BF system then surely this has to be along the right lines?

The 4x4 ECU parameters and physical cats may be expecting less of the bad stuff to be getting through to the sensor hence when the standard cats are pulled and replaced by a single sports cat the system is more sensitive and triggers the CEL light on the dash.

How many VRS owners on here have the BF system fitted with the sports cat and have the same CEL issue?
