hotter inside with sunroof?

Featured Replies

Took a test drive in a L & K yesterday. Nice car but the sunroof blind semed to let in a lot of light.

We spend a lot of time in Spain, does it get hotter inside with a closed sunroof?

Have never noticed it being any hotter than my previous non sunroofed Yeti but may be a little different in Spain.

Air con is there for a reason,Spanish cars don’t usually have sun roofs.

The pan roof is tinted and it comes with a sunblind - well worth making sure that's closed on a hot sunny day.  Even in this hot summer our old Yeti with pan roof never got uncomfortable, and opening the roof when you first get in releases a lot of built up heat.

The tinted glass and blind should stop it getting hotter,  (Infra red light and visible light not same thing)

and if in Spain, a metal roof isn't exactly going to stay cold when parked in the sun

Depending on where sun is, probably going to get hot from sun coming in windscreen and side windows, so sunroof will make less of a difference than you expect

I have an L&K with a sunroof, never noticed it to be any hotter than a car without. SurreyJohn is correct as well, the biggest issue for heating the inside of a car is the windows.

Our family took two Yetis to the South of France in August.

Ours with sunroof, son's Jungle Green SEL without.

No difference inside when returning from the beach.

Although, our leather seats, even with spare towels over and window blinds, were a little 'toasty' on pink skin!
