Code p0130

Featured Replies

I had a bit of an issue with running lean this was resolved with the new fuel filter but since then I've had fault code p0130 fault on heater circuit on oxygen sensor 1 I swopped the sensor but fault code came back as did it again upon replacing the original sensor back I've done an earth test and tested power from battery to connector but that's all I know on the electrical side as this seems electrical related to me possibly any thoughts ???

I've done an earth test

What do you mean by this?

Pin 4 of the precat lambda sensor is the heater control wire that comes from pin 4 of the (81 pin) ECU connector. Although it's brown like earths usually are on VW group stuff, I doubt this is a direct earth, otherwise it wouldn't bother going to the ECU.  More likely the ECU controls the heater output by PWM controlling this side of the heater (earthing it in a fast on/off sequence with variable on-to-off time ratios).

Have you checked the continuity of this wire between these pins?

Then you need an auto electrician, winos explanation is correct but completely wasted on you

LOL.

Forget the details; can you answer either of the questions in my last reply? One of them is just about something you've said/done, the other is a yes/no.

Changed the correct sensor?

I don't know how to do a continuity test the and I just meant I had done a basic earth test to make sure nothing was grounding out or poor earth contact and as far as I'm aware tech1e as my scanner is saying it's the pre cat sensor do you think maybe it's my post cat ???

So find an auto electrician. Maybe even consider thanking those who try to help you?

Not at all, more that you know which one is pre cat and post cat.

Lol as you know yourself these fault codes can be a bit misleading it's just based on having the same fault code with two different sensors fitted its making me think electrical issue which really is not something I'm up on apart from seems that it's at the connector possibly

I assume you have checked the fuse?

Yep I replaced 5he fuse just in case the cat in itself is running fine just this pesky fault code I am having a new exhaust next week and will change the rear ßensor also then maybe it will help if I'm lucky lol.

Doubtful if its an electrical fault with the pre cat sensor.

Thats like changing a rear tyre if you have a puncture on the front and hoping it will help.

I already had wrong did not mean it like that I read it back and makes no sense what I meant was I'm hoping that maybe the new exhaust may help in case there was a micro leak that I've not picked up on as it does need changing.

Well I was assuming the pre cat sensor is the one on my manifold before my cat.

Are you replacing the downpipe and cat?

  • Author

Yep full replacement through and have new front and rear sensors to go on

Thanks for the advice guys it's still persisting i will see first of anything changes after the new exhaust and sensors as I've done everything then I can think of apart from electrical.

Good old parts cannon approach, like it.

The exhaust already needed doing and I was told this can be a cause of this fault code so seems pointless doing anything else until I've done the exhaust i guess as long as it's not electrical I'm okay lol.
