Please let me know TDF

RF Antennas need a bonded ground plane. I think GPS ones do - we’re currently fitting GPS Geofencing equipment to ScotRails HST fleet and have designed a Ground Plane for an internal installation.

Hi KevC_Derby will I just attach the gps antenna base to a matal source with in the car my mate has his own garage and he is having another look at it on Thursday afternoon it's booked in to skoda on Friday morning hopefully he will be able to get it done before Friday as im unsure how much skoda will charge

I’m no expert but do some research on-line.

I had a CB as a yewth and had the Dipole antenna fixed to a Biscuit Tin lid outside my bedroom window - no signal without it.

I scanned the car today and this is code, not much help to you I’m afraid, but my nav works fine even with this code showing.

Been told by skoda doesn't seem to be an antenna problem seems to be a wiring issue they said they will be having a look at the wiring from the antenna they charged me £93.00 for a diagnostic which still could not pin it down, car goes back in on Friday 14th and I get a courtesy car they say they will take the head lining down from the rear, they said they don't know how long that will take, I said my mate who owns a removed the head lining from the rear in about 10 minutes, as I said my mates diagnostic equipment said gps antenna not grounding, I asked if it would be covered by the warranty she said they don't know until they have a look, I'm dreading the price lol

Just an update good people, skoda now say it is a shark fin gps antenna problem it's in there now going to cost £178.00 all in parts under warranty, wiring not, did not charge for diagnostic check, they said they would have to reboot and reset the ecu back to factory settings pick it up this Friday afternoon as I'm on an awkward shift this week so can't get down there until then,

Just like to say to each and everyone who gave me help it's very much appreciated thank you for your time and help

Many thanks for your time

Can anyone put up a photo of where the antenna goes on the nav unit.

The media display i have is the one without the volume buttons. Just all touch screen

A bit of a revival after 7 years!

From my understanding, the GPS antenna connection is to the infotainment unit in the glove compartment - the unit in the dashboard is just the display.

Hi AV8

Its the blue connector top right of pic and as Warrior says its connected in the glove box unit and not the HMI
