hi guys. just fitted a 3 spoke 3t paddle steering wheel to my 10 plate elegance. all the controls are the same as my old wheel and all worked except the paddles. a friend has an older version of the vcds so we went in an activated the paddles . all working/. goes for a drive and 

the rear wiper and washers have stopped working. the rear wiper runs once when i select reverse as its raining here now. any ideas .we went back in and checked and it says rear  wiper not installed? cheers bernie.

 

wheel came from a v6 petrol estate 2012 if that helps.

the only options on the paddles were steering with tiptronic and push to talk or without push to talk. foolishly we never jotted the block code down

Start with an autoscan from the latest VCDS release.

thanks not sure he has autoscan would need to check. would it be a squib ring issue? the paddles robbing the rear wiper lines?.just a thought. when we went into steering controls there was no rear wiper  and tiptronice with paddles option?

strange everything works inc cruise and front wipers just no rear wiper

 

To be honest, it sounds like your friend has messed up the coding...

i agree so i am screwed now really just live with it i suspect

 

around here they want 100 plus just to activate the paddles. seems a bit steep. anyway they work  so no rear wiper the price you pay i suppose.

could i find my original; steering control module block code anywhere?

 

Have you tried contacting a local member with a legit, updated cable and ask them to take a look.

 

Coding in the paddles and stalks is hardly a difficult job, it just sounds like you've taken it to someone with no idea what they're doing.

ive not tried asking as i thought it would be cheeky. i live near chorley lancs is the a thread for people with vdcs

all sorted.

man came from digi dash major recode.

master ecu and steering control module ecu..

dont know what the initial re coding mate had done but it was catastrophic.lol anyway all done now thanks guys
