If you like recycling you could pee into a bucket and pour that in.

Surely it would be more efficient (from a workflow optimisation view) to just put your injection apparatus directly into the filler? Of course, a bucket is more unisex and doesn't exclude anyone from contributing.

Or buy a Porsche diesel. My brother in law gets that ****ed on for free whenever he parks near a pub. He'd just need to fit a urinal on the side of it.

Thanks for the useful replies all.

I got a 2 x 10l deal off Amazon for £15.75 delivered in the end. (Which is £20.50 today!) 75.5ppl is OK I guess. Fingers crossed those 20 litres will see me through to the end of the lease, approximately 16K miles worth there.

My 1.6 TDI was down to 1500ml range

Put 3.5 ltrs and range did not reset

Just put another 9ltrs in making total 13.5lts and it’s reset showing 7500 range.

DONT forget to switch ignition on for 30 secs but don’t start engine or reset won’t work.

I do reffil adblue to max recommended quantity (usually 6-7 litres) and reset is almost immediate. Mind you i always do it at petrol station with dedicated dispenser. Price is roughly 40p per liter here. Never had to wait 30 secs or something.  Its 2.0 tdi, if it matters.

Bit of a thread resurrection but .......

........ this is my first car with AdBlue.  There are a few filling stations on my regular(ish) travels that have adblue dispensers in the HGV sections.  I always worry re HGV dispensers as they are meant for delivering a lot of stuff quickly, will I end up with adblue everywhere if it doesn’t shut down quickly enough?  Or is the best approach aim to put so much in (what the car says is max) and just squeeze the handle mega gently?

Thinking of that as an alternative to getting a 10ltr container with a spout.

Just for anyone really with a car from MOTABILITY.  Your AdBlue top ups are FREE at a Skoda Dealership. Part of the servicing. If going in maybe best to call and arrange when.  It does not need to be part of having s service carried out.

I've never used a filling station AdBlue pump so cannot answer the question about shut-off I'm afraid. My Karoq is also my first with AdBlue and I've used 10ltr top-ups successfully 4 times now, so not fussed about looking for a pump. I was worried about spilling or the weight of the 10Ltr can, but to be honest it was easy to manage. I keep water and rags handy just in case of a spill, but so far no need in almost 40K miles. I find Amazon or Screwfix to be cheap for 10Ltr top-ups although occasionally Aldi has them. I think  my next top up will last until the car goes back at the end of the lease now (needs AdBlue in 1500 miles, alarm just started)

The last time I got one it was a 5ltr from Asda for £5. Easier to manage than the 10ltr.

I gave up trying to find a pump with AdBlue. Have previously purchased from local places like Tool Station, Euro Car Parts, et al at around £10 for 10L.

But couldn’t be bothered traipsing out to get some and last month had 2x 10L dropped on my doorstep for under £18.

Amazon is your friend.

ps - dash warning came on yesterday at 1500 miles range, so plan to let it go below 1000 in the hope I can get the whole 10L in first time. Have never previously run so low as to empty a 10L bottle into tank.

That's what I buy, or the Greenchem equivalent for similar price. I let mine get down to below 500 miles range and easily fit a full 10ltr container in the tank.

Good advice.👍

Anyone got a handle on how many thousand miles per, say, 10 litre AB container?   My car started at 5,500 “range” when new and has been counting down pretty faithfully, but no idea how much was in the AB tank when I collected her.

@DSL

If it showed 5,500 miles when collected you might find when you top up to capacity or near it then shows 6,000 range, then next time 6,500, then maybe 7,000.

VW Group continued with 'cheats' in the software and making the AdBlue get sipped as the miles go on the vehicle.

It does depend obviously on how a TDI is actually used.

As will be the case of maybe or maybe not getting Blocked DPF' warning lights. Depends even with the latest vehicles on how often driven and how many cold short trips the engine / emissions system is doing.

Mine seems to go about 6500 - 7500 on a tank of AdBlue. It uses more over the winter, probably because of lower exhaust temps.
