Pickup immobiliser problem

Featured Replies

I have bought a 1999 VW pickup which I believe is effectively a Skoda Felicia. It was running and the stopped.

No power going to fuel shut off solenoid thus no fuel. Have done lots of chasing wires to make sure relays working etc. I have come to the conclusion it is an immobiliser issue.

Is there an easy way to check or even bypass. I understand the immobiliser is there for a reason but I would be happy if it wasn’t.

Any help or ideas gratefully received.

It is not clear from your description if you have bought a running car which later on from an unknown reason refused to start OR you have bought a no start car.

Where do you live?

It was running fine albeit on vegetable oil.  Then it stopped and we haven’t managed to get it going since.

It has needed other work to get it roadworthy, welding cambelt water pump etc. As I say checked all relays fuse box etc.

We have come to the conclusion it’s an immobiliser fault as no live to the fuel solenoids. I have read a fair few threads.

I live in west Wales. Vehicle is just a spare runaround hence why I’m not bothered if the immobiliser is bypassed.

thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a non-working immobilizer a MOT fail?

I can't see why it should be. Just how would you test a transponder immobiliser which is/should be released by putting the key in the ignition, since that's often a requisite part of the start engine procedure?

Ken, ask your fellow members on this forum that work as MOT inspectors. I remember TeflonTom saying that.

thread resurrection!

I think i have the same issue.

Just bought a caddy 1.9 and it started fine when getting out of the sellers car port. And when i test drove it. And just after i parted with the cash to drive off. Then had to be recovered from killington services after i stopped for a wee! (The recovery guy went above & beyond, checking fuel lines before and after the pump etc.)

It started again, on the driveway, after fiddling with all the relays under the glove compartment, but not this morning when i wanted to go and buy it some front pads 😕

Did anyone get anywhere with a similar issue?

Thanks

Old cars suffer from corrosion of the wiring and connectors. Rain water can get to the relay box quite often. I would dismantle the relay box and check for damage. Then I would check every connector in the engine bay area for corrosion. WD-40 is your friend.

"I'm new here and so sorry to ask if this is in wrong section please move to correct area again thank you in advance...

I have a t reg skoda felcia pickup 1600 petrol now I have all power everywhere except to the fuel pump wires which I have traced and got back to the board and it's red yellow blue and brown... brown is earth I know ..anyway so have had new relays  and cleaned the copper terminals all down so like new again and all power is going to lights horns etc etc but still no power to the 4 wires to pump even from the cable block on footwell side... so please help and all fuses looked good 👍 please help me"

Is the wiring factory standard, if so you need the wiring diagram, if not has any other non-factory items been fitted or factory items replaced, I'm thinking of a kill switch or re-routing of power supply away from normal immobiliser (if fitted) and/or ignition switch.

Have you done wire checks at connectors for continuity and supply (taken a direct live supply and/or from the battery or off-board 12v battery or tested wires with something like a reasonable sized bulb or diagnostic  tester probe if you have one?

Have used probe light no wiring is messed with it's all standard and have chased it back to where it's on the foot well just beside the fuse board and relays that's all been cleaned up and opened and there is no power going to the pump ? It stops at the fuses that's it ?? I have read 2 doff places for fuse the 5th 1 back from right and the 4th from left ps any help much appreciated I did wonder if inertia switch but can't find 1 ??

Ps to point out there is no power going down the cables to the pump please can someone tell me on the 4 pins what I need to check to know pump is alive thanks

Here is what i have for the Pickup immobilizer.

Click it.

If I was to just put power to fuel pump what do the colours mean ie blue yellow and the red and yellow stripe tracer brown is earth so the 3 other colours at the pump end what are they please or where on the fuse relay board is it in the cables

If it's a diesel, it's highly unlikely to be an immobiliser fault. Most likely the fuel pump relay (feel if it's clicking, if not, tap it with something metal), the wire to the stop valve, or the stop valve itself (whip it out, remove the plunger). D's need the stop valve, SDI's don't really need it, so you can pretty much just leave it with the plunger out if you're not discerning.

Thankyou
