pirelli p zero nero vs goodyear eagle f1

Featured Replies

I've never heard of any new car with the P zero nero's as standard fit.

thanks for all your help guys:thumbup: am leaning towards the eagle f1's as i don't like the sound of squealing tyres unless I'm really pushing it:rolleyes:

Never had the Nero's squeal when I tried them!!! And boy did I try!!

Then again, GSD3's took a lot to get them to squeal...

Even on trackdays i've never noticed any squealing from my P zero's. I would question such statements as there are many types of P zero tyres out there.

This is what a pucker one looks like.

F1`s are the way to go, i had them in the 225/45/17 size and they transformed the handling.

Nero`s are pirelli`s "tuning" tyre, if your car has modified suspension then this is the tyre to go for otherwise go for the Rosso

Currently using Kumho ecsta 712`s these are not as good as the Ku31`s but at

Doesn't look as good as Eagle F1 IMO

I have the Neros, and boy are they good. Very very good. Really, they are good. Bloody good. Extemely good, I'd go for neros because they are simply very good indeed.

They really are the best tyre I've ever had. Had them squeeling in the dry when pushing VERY hard on a farily recently surfaced road. Dry grip is amazing, and wet grip is as good as dry grip on the Bridgestones. I totally recommend them.:thumbup::thumbup:

You seem a bit unsure:rofl: :D

Does that mean that they would suit my car better because of the springs, over the eagle f1's that is?

To be honest F1`s through my own experience are the dogs danglies, but we are fitting more Nero`s than any thing else at the minute..... Ask Dave U he has them as well as Exfiesta to name but a few:rolleyes:

I had Michelin Pilot Primacy's on, I thought they were ok in the dry and a little skittish in the wet. They lasted 28,000 (still had 3mm frt and 4mm Rr) but I drive like a loon so they had to go. I've always liked Goodyears but someone told me about the P Zero Nero's, I did a little research on the net and Briskoda forums and decided to go for it. Result! no tyre squeal, progressive break away on lift off over steer, easily caught. I like 'em. they suit my driving style.

I can't speak for the Fabia yet but have had F1's (GSD 3's) on my main Impreza for the last 70,000 miles and they are outstanding. The suspension set up with Eibach's suits them well. I'm not sure how they'd be on the Fabia with slightly bigger sidewalls (?) though. My other Impreza (just the classic R reg Sport 2.0 non turbo) has P Zero's and rue the day I got them. They're on 16" wheels while the F1's are on 17" wheels.

I am going to put F1's on my new Fabia when the stock one's are worn. Oh, I'm getting rid of the second non turbo Impreza just in case anyone thinks I'm a complete loon :)

FWIW, the 4 new F1's on my Scoob cost 350 all in, great value. Oh, I find that it takes a good 1,000 miles to have the F1's driving right and stop being 'squirmy' so if you do get them you may wonder if you've done the right thing for a bit.

Just on question: Are there any preferred camber settings etc for best road holding?

Cheers!

:)

Mike

I keep hearing about these?

  • What make are they
  • Are they all season tyres
  • What is wear rate like
  • What is the road noise like
  • Whats the cost

Thanks!

Kumho

Yes

To early to say

Road noise is good, quieter than toyos.

about 45-55 a corner.....

HTH :D

I'm tempted by the Kumho's over the Toyos based purely on cost (may or may not be selling the Octavia). Noise is a big factor for me as I hate road noise.

They dont look as sexy though ;)

You must have had the only LCR made that didn't have the PZero Rosso fitted then!! ;) The Rosso's are grippy in the dry when new... and that's about the end of the good points!

I tried the Nero's against the GSD3's on my Leon - really stuff all to choose between them!! Dry grip was possibly slightly better with the Nero's' date=' but I didn't run them long enough to see whether that was because they wouldn't be lasting as long![/quote']

I've already said I think I'd got it wrong!

My OZ-Racing Superturismo WRC [ 8 x 17"] wheels arrived yesterday...and they fitte great!!! :D

I ordered Pirelli P-Zero Nero's with them [225/35 ZR17], but they didn't "fill out" the "wheel arches" (think that's the correct word)...as well as I'ld like.

So...I'm going to reorder tyres in 235/40 ZR17...

In that size...I can get the tyre of my choice...the new Michelin Pilot Sport [PS2]...

Which one sholud I choose...the Pirelli P-Zero Nero tyres or the Michelin Pilot Sport [PS2] ones?! :)

BTW if this goes wrong and I hate the tyres YOU are my scapegoat Tom_vRS:rofl: :D

Concerning the negative comments about pzeros: I believe that if pzeros squeal and get punctured there must be something wrong in the tyre, old stock maybe? Rubber gets hard when it gets old so no tyre will last forever even if you drive them very carefully.

About longevity: I drove maybe 15000-20000km (can't remember exactly) with them last summer and noticed that fronts had worn conciderably (most from the outer edges, but that's just my cornering habits :)). I assume that at the rate the backs were wearing (conciderably less) if I switch the fronts to back I can drive next summer safely and then it's time to change, actually not that bad concidering I've given them a hard time :)

It's interesting to see such emotion over a set of tyres.

Must get into the way the tyre looks on the rim. Does this have a detrimental effect on the handling if they don't look good. :)

Does anyone have any experience with the NEW Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres?

Not on an Octavia ;) so I wouldnt like to comment.

Well, I recently experienced whichever Bridgestones come on Astra SRi's on a diesel Astra SRi (rental car, and not my choice either!!), and they confirmed what I've experienced in the past with Bridgestones... they make great motorcycle tyres, but not very good car tyres!!

Now, if only I could remember whch Bridgestones they were...

I know, I know, it's on an Astra and not an Octavia or a Fabia...
