drop in power / hesitation

Featured Replies

afternoon all,

I've noticed whenever my car goes down a steep hill or over a hump back bridge - upon decent, there's a slight hesitation from my engine for about 1-2s almost feels like the car slows itself down.

done a check and no codes are showing, can't seem to find anything online about it.

any thoughts?

I'm sure I've seen a similar thread a while back although a quick search hasn't found it.

If I remember correctly, it's a common issue and it's due to the traction control system detecting wheel slip as the car lifts on the suspension. I'd try turning off TCS and see if it still happens :)

I shall give it a go on the way home

thought id update on this, tried multiple times at different speeds didn't seems to make any difference ( as in it still occurs)  it's weird like my brakes lightly press on for half a second

Are you using cruise control at the time?

Mine does this on steep decents, feels like a momentary cut-out on the engine. In three years of ownership it has never bothered me enough to investigate the cause :)

yeah mines always done it, just thought id ask see if it was a common issue or not.

TBF ive done 35K in it and it's not missed a beat yet - altho I need to change my discs and pads soon

Mine does the same as well. Normally on one piece of road that I drive often at the start of a sheepish descent in a 60 limit.

It always feels like the throttle has reduced momentarily and I have not found the cause of it.

It's absolutely normal, as said above its been on here before and somebody even received an email from VW explaining that it's a feature working along side traction control. (Slept a lot since, cannot remember full details).
