2001 Fabia valence by windscreen wipers

Featured Replies

Hello,

can anyone point me in the right direction on removal of this to gain access to washer tubing

thanks in advance

You have to remove the three plastic 'fir tree' clips and the wiper arms. The panel just pulls off. The clips usually break on removal but you can buy them on ebay. Sometimes a wiper arm puller is needed to get the arms off the spindles.

Clips....

You'll probably be able to bend the panel enough to access the washer tubing without taking anything but the clips out.  I found cutting them just below their heads with a sharp blade is the easiest way to remove them.

Many thanks, I do have the clips which I did buy on EBay

i want to renew washer tubing, make it a little longer so easier to get jets back on, and also give a good clean out, leaves etc

If you're pulling that trim off, be careful when you detach the windscreen edge of it.  It's tempting to look at it and think that the whole trim slides off the windscreen, but actually the detachable bit pulls off at 90° to the glass surface. There's a tongue in the removable trim (5) that fits into a groove in the part that's left behind on the screen (2, 1).

Maybe it's obvious to others, but I spent a while failing to spot it recently. A picture's worth a lot of words:

^ this. For me it was hard to click trim 5 back into profile 1,2 (despite groove was clean). Profile bounced down (and there’s no way to support it) and no click! Tried to tap trim fast & gently, cm by cm- and till middle all worked fine... till I made crack in windscreen with this tapping. So without serious reason will not touch that trim again.

Debris under trim? Strange, but after many years everything here was quite clean. So I broken windscreen for nothing :-DDD

A bit of washing up liquid on the tongue that pushes into the channel helps a lot. Washing up liquid is incredibly slippery.

Many thanks for info, must admit looks quite a fiddly job

the only reason I think I need to remove is to get the near side washer jet secure into the tubing, for some reason it comes off

any ideas guys

thanks in advance
