New vRS ordered!

Featured Replies

After a fair bit of googling I've settled on what spec VRS I want and how to buy it.  Just to say thanks to everyone here, I found nearly all my answers without having to post anything.

This is what I've ordered, and I had to stop myself as it was getting too pricey :)

New Estate 2.0 TSI 245 DSG

Race blue metallic paint

vRS upholstery with grey seams

Adaptive Cruise Control

Temporary space saver spare wheel

Dynamic chassis control

Electrically heated, adjustable and folding door mirrors - auto dimming

KESSY

Boot net programme

Heated windscreen

Heated front seats

Heated washer nozzles in front

Heated 3 spoke leather multifunction steering wheel with DSG paddles

It'll be a while til I get to use the winter pack though as it's not ready til April

The best bit was getting just over £7k off the list price through a broker.

The only thing I'm not sure about is whether I should add the 4yr extended warranty for £255 or even the 5yr for £515.  If I like the car I expect to keep it five years, but the chap on the phone said Skoda will ring you during year 3 and ask if you want to extend it, so there's no point ordering it pre-registration - just decide nearer the time.  Would it be the same price and cover though?

Nice spec.

I was under the impression the extended warranty had to be ordered at the point of purchasing and couldn’t be added later. Could be wrong.

Spec aside, race blue is such a great colour. You'll love it!

The Warranty ordered in year 3 for an extra 2 years is not like the first 3 years warranty. The first 3 years is a Factory warranty, year 4 &5 added in the 3rd year is an aftermarket warranty and doesn't cover certain things unless you pay more money. The extended warranty for year 4 & 5 ordered before the car is registered is an extension of the Factory Warranty. but I don't think the breakdown cover extends to year 4 & 5.

thanks all

As above definitely take the warranty at factory, it's significantly more expensive when the 3 years is ending and less comprehensive.

Agreed, take the factory warranty for as long as possible. I didn't get contacted at all to extend after the 3 years.....

I know it's all about risk but do many people make use of their warranties?  Obviously the things that will definitely need fixing/replacing in the first 5 years of a car's life are the very things that are not covered (tyres etc.).  I'm leaning more toward taking the risk of not extending it, but I've never owned a new car or a Skoda before so am open to opinions.

Mine was bought at 3 years old and had its 5th birthday a couple of months ago. It's had zero warranty work done during that time but your mileage may vary.

I had planned to take the Skoda insured warranty after my Approved Used warranty expired, however it's the best part of £750 a year on my VRS DSG so I'd rather take the risk. That's how much cheaper the factory warranty extension is. Diagnostic time alone is something like £100+ per hour, so if you plan on keeping the car 5 years, the warranty cost is so cheap it's silly not to imo.
